What's Cooking on a Hot Labor Day Weekend

Sacramento has been locked into a heat spell, with temps hovering in the 100+ degree range.  Local outdoor activities this Labor Day Weekend, aren't something found to be especially comfortable.  However, last evening, I hosted a little gathering at my home, which was kept indoors.

For dinner I cooked simple faire. I slow cooked Beef Bourguignon. And, I made Tomato Pie with tomatoes from my garden. There were Green Beans and Cheddar Biscuits too.

* I wish to note that some recipes state you can serve this Tomato Pie cold.  I did that last evening, and was very disappointed.  However, this morning, I heated up a slice of it for breakfast, and it reached a whole new wonderful dimension.  DO NOT SERVE COLD.  Serve hot, or warm!

Hello Myrl - it's hot down in Southern California too.  Turn off the oven/stove and chill with some ice cream.   Alternatives to cooking are on the menu.  Stay as cool as possible.

Myrl- some of us are cooks...you are a chef!!!   I've never made beef bourguignon but I may give it a try!!!  We had hot dogs, baked beans, and a fresh pasta salad. Dessert  was blueberry peach cobbler.
