My second year living in Florida, which was way back in time, I was introduced to Florida Festivals which is a rather big deal in Florida. I have only had a sampling of the festivals which peak season is January, February and March there are also fall festival season if you don’t get enough in the spring. My research took to many websites include the best 75 festivals which made me wonder how many there actually are, couldn’t find the answer!
Rather than bore you with complete names of the festivals how about a list of what is celebrated, in many cases the same reason for the festival example seafood many towns and cities celebrate seafood, but I wanted to dig deeper.
Here we go: Manatees, Frog Legs, Swamp Cabbage, Strawberries, Blueberries, BEER, Art Deco, Shark’s Tooth, Soda Pop, Worm Guntin (Google it!), Mangos, Possums, Cooter (turtles, very close to The Villages), Wine and Chocolate (close by).
This one I plan to attend, The Best Stinkin Festival of all, The Garlic Festival! They offer over 100 garlic laced items so stinky you will stink for days, sign me up! Save room for the Garlic Ice Cream!
