There is a horse race up in Kentucky that last about 2 minutes, I know let’s throw a 3-hour party, you in? Welcome to The Villages, Florida where we need the slightest excuse or sometimes no excuse to have a party! This is setting up to be a busy weekend as Cinco De Mayo is on Friday May 5th and the Kentucky Derby is Saturday the 6th which means many will be going directly from Margaritas to Mint Juleps.
The Rio-One Social Club is my village club and also the oldest continually operating club in The Villages. Most villages have their own social club and of course there is over 3,000 clubs in The Villages so you know there will be plenty of parties available.
Our party has grown as we promote bringing visitors, I think we have a fun day planned with “Best Lady’s Hat” normally we play a little Cyndi Lauper, “Best Dressed Man”, yep ZZ Top. Years ago, a member of our club built stick horses, 6 of them so we have races by rolling dice with betting and of course betting on the big race. There will be plenty of food and as usual BYOB which I am sure some will be bringing Mint Juleps. Interested in attending? Contact me, just need Village ID or Guest Pass!
