If you are new to the Charlotte area you have to make a trip to South21 Curb Service , it opened in 1955, and it truly is a local favorite by many Charlotteans. Not far from Ovens Auditorium and Independence Arena. It's traditional drive-in that you pull up beside a little stand with a menu and a microphone, park, roll down your window, and place your order. Soon, a carhop-type guy with the trademark South 21 black fedora hat and red jacket will deliver your food to your car.
Their main staples are hamburgers, hamburger steak, fish, and chicken, all served with fries or onion rings! Their two most advertised entrees are the "Super Boy" deluxe burger, with all the traditional trimmings, and the "Fish-O-Burger" which is two pieces of Leviathan-sized fish piled onto a minuscule bun. Their Wednesday and Friday special of golden fried filet of trout is really hard to pass up at $6.47, which includes homemade tartar sauce, cole slaw, fries, and dinner bread.
