Saturday we celebrated my Dad's 85th Birthday!
We had a family reunion for the ever faithful New York Mets fan.
My dad, Nathan Brown is the best. This year has been a tough one he had brain surgery in April to reduce a pressure from fluid build up on his brain. He is doing fine.
When I brought him to the hospitol for his presurgical testing it was the first time he was in the hospitol. He was born at home.
My Mom passed away September 2000. When she did we worried that Dad would never make it without my Mom- his constant companion for over 50 years. Our Dad surprised us all.
Dad did not want to live with any of his three daughters- He wanted to remain independant. After living alone for a year he choose to move to a wonderful senior home in New Paltz, The Culinarians's Home.
Originally founded as a retirement home for chefs fron New York City the home is now a not for profit assisted living home.
The Culinarian's Home is located north of the village of New Paltz off route 32 on Old Tshirkey Road. The grounds are beautiful with paved walkways that run along the Wallkill River.
The Culinarian's Home has a wonderful staff that is my Dad's extended family. The atmosphere is warm and inviting.
Dad's birthday party was at my house- We had a house full of family and friends, It was a great day- At the end of the day Dad was glad to go "home" to the Culinarian.
Post Script:The Times Herald Record has an article about the Culinarian's Home- It was a great treat for me to get my google alert today and see a photo of my Dad- To view the article go to:
