GERMAN BIERFEST IN NEWINGTON CT

German Bierfest

I just heard about this last night from a friend, and the good news is that it is going on again today.

A German Bierfest will be held from 4 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Hartford Saengerbund Clubhouse, 719 North Mountain Road, Newington. Admission is $8.00; and there is free parking.

The menu includes bratwurst, knockwurst, leberkaese, sauerkraut, homemade potato pancakes. The desserts are also homemade, to include German pastries and cakes. Have you had any German beer latesly? Now is your chance to try Gemuetlichkeit. There is also entertainment which will be provided by a live 14-piece brass band from Germany. There are also activities for children. The fest is held under a large tent, rain or shine.

Everyone is welcome... except your pets.

Wow, that sounds like fun. And it's not even Oktoberfest yet!

Too bad I live way down in South Carolina so I can't get there.

If you are ever down here in Myrtle Beach you should check out Bodo's
restaurant in downtown Myrtle Beach. They have GREAT german food and beer.

Adam.. I've been to Myrtle Beach, but about 8 years ago. Was Bodo's around then? If so, sorry I missed it.

I'll have to check it out on my next trip.

George.. I believe you to be correct. I went to this fest, and it was ok.. the food was good, but for some reason I was expecting it to be more, somehow. I left shortly after getting there. Could be because my son Jake was being miserable.
