You all remember Russ Solomon, the founder of Sacramento's Tower Records stores, right? Then, as you know, Tower Records folded but in its Land Park location Solomon opened a new store called R5 Records. This weekend, R5 Records is celebrating its one-year anniversary at its Land Park store on Broadway. The store isn't yet making a profit, but you can help support our local business by showing up today or tomorrow to attend the R5 Anniversary Party.
What do you get? Free food -- hot dogs and goodie bags, plus free music. Live Sacramento bands will play in the parking lot starting at 11 AM today and noon tomorrow. And who knows, maybe you'll get to shake hands with the legend himself, Mr. Solomon.
Location: 16th Street and Broadway, just east of the Tower Theatre on the south side of the street. If you're looking for parking, try Land Park Drive.
Bring sunscreen and buy some CDs while you're there, why doncha. I'm gonna mosey on over myself later on today. Maybe I'll see ya!
