Penguin Plunge Update and Photos

I posted a blog recently announcing the Annual Penguin Plunge in Atlantic Beach, NC.  My dad, my brother in law, my priest and several other people I know took the plunge today and participated in submerging their bodies in the Atlantic Ocean!  It was 38 degrees today and breezy, but as you will see from the photos it was absolutely  gorgeous here on the Crystal Coast.  Hundreds of spectators came out to show their support, and my guess would be that about 130 people took the plunge.

(NO, I AM NOT CRAZY ENOUGH TO HAVE JUMPED IN)

The Penguin Plunge was actually great fun, and My mom, my sister and I have all agreed to participate next year.  I will start praying for a warmer winter next year!

You couldn't pay me enough to jump into the water unless it's 85 degrees outside!

Those folks are nuts!

How fun.  I would have done it.  I am a bit of a nut and would fit in well with this group. LOL

Hello Amy,

You look like an eskimo in that hood.  What a fun day!  I can't wait 'till next year when you, me and your sister take the plunge.  YEAH!

PS: Glad to see you back above me (where you belong) in Carteret County ratings.

I did a plunge on January 1, 1973, in the bay in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Gulf Waters are always supposed to be warm. Nope. Too cold for me. That was the first, last, and only time. LOL

Best wishes for health, happiness, peace, and prosperity in 2009.

We call it a Polar Bear Swim here - but Penguin Plunge sounds great! :-)
