Dumb Criminal of the Week

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX North - San Antonio

A "too dumb to be a criminal" bonehead award goes to Adam Hardeman in Atlanta, GA. Hardeman was part of a cleaning crew hired by a local liquor store. After one week of cleaning the store, Hardeman decided to rob the store. He waited until night, climbed onto the roof, removed an air conditioning unit, and dropped into the store. Once he loaded up with loot, he realized he could not reach the ceiling, and the doors and windows were covered with bars. He was arrested in the morning.

No escape plan and no plan B.  It would be nice if more criminals were like this.  It would make police work alot easier, wouldn't it?

One of my favorite recent stories was the guy who bought a $14 hammer and proceeded to break a window at the liquor store to steal a $8 bottle of wine. I have many friends in law enforcement. They say "They're not criminals because they're smart". Even Madoff got caught!

Gotta love it when they work out their "brilliant" plan of how to get into the store, just don't quite think far enough ahead to have a plan of getting back out.

Way to hatch a plan! Now at least he won't have to worry about a job- you don't really need one in jail!

Zilkia,

This is a funny story.  Most criminals are caught because they do stupid things.

Zilkia - I love these "dumb criminal" stories!  It just amazes me some of the things those guys do.

I guess I've done some dumb things, too, though - I was just lucky I wasn't engaged in criminal activity at the time!  :-)

Hi Zilkia,

I love these kinds of stories. One of my favorites was one I read, about a lady who witnessed a liquor store hold-up. When on the witness stand in court, she was asked if she saw the men who held up the liquor store, and she said "Yes." She was then asked if she could identify the men, and again she said, "Yes." And when asked if those men were present in the courtroom, before she could answer, both suspects raised their hands. (lol-lol)
