300 Days of Sunshine "FORE" Boulder Golf Course Communities

Gorgeous Weather Defines Boulder Colorado

With over three hundred days of sunshine, Boulder Colorado is a city where you could play golf all year round. Now, it might be a tad chilly with fast fairways in January, but it would also be par for the course to find a beautiful day at the top of the year with T-shirt weather.

This is Colorado, where the saying goes, "If you don't like the weather, wait fifteen minutes." So where to spend your days golfing? Where to live for that matter!

Live Along The Fairway

Are you the sort of duffer that wants to live, breathe and exhale golf 24/seven? Maybe living along the links is for you. If that's the case, Lake Valley, Gunbarrel Green and Indian Peaks are going to be communities to investigate.

The Gunbarrel Green neighborhood for instance surrounds the very beautiful private Boulder Country Club. This is a world renowned course designed by the one and only J Press Maxwell.

Press Maxwell Course

For those unfamiliar, Maxwell designed over twenty courses throughout the United States. He got his start after serving as an army pilot during WW II. The legacy of his course at the BCC is that it has gotten more challenging with age. Why? The well tended grounds are home to some very mature and beautiful trees. Big ones. So be careful with your shots!

BCC Course Provides Beautiful Colorado Backdrop

And by the way, all those gorgeous trees and shrubs and water hazards are part of what makes backing to this golf course so worthwhile.

Not only will you potentially have a beautiful view of the Front Range and Indian Peaks, but you'll have that view across a verdant greenbelt. And I mentioned water hazards, you should know there are four creeks and two ponds adding to the pretty views and challenges facing today's golfers.

Other Boulder Golf Courses To Consider

Where Gunbarrel Green is an older community, with a mix of original and remodeled homes, Indian Peaks is a newer community. The course and neighborhood share the same name. But not all of the vast planned urban development backs to or is even near the sprawling course.

In fact, Indian Peaks spans two distinct sets of schools. All withing Boulder Valley School District. But feeding to different high schools.  The houses west of 95th Street are in the Louisville schools community whiles those to the east belong to Lafayette.

Each is a good set of schools, but if you were looking for an edge, the higher home values to the west are likely a reflection of local preference for Louisville schools.

Limited Access Neighborhoods

Indian Peaks offers some really great communities. There are pocket neighborhoods surrounded on multiple sides by the golf course. Eagles Landing for instance is a semi-custom group of homes built by McStain Neighborhoods where every window and vista was taken into consideration during construction.

You'll also find a wide array of housing choices, from condos to town homes to gorgeous custom properties in this beloved Lafayette based neighborhood.

Moving "FORE" 300 Days of Sunshine

Then again, maybe you love golf, but you also love the mountains. And skiing. And so many other great opportunities that Colorado provides with its 300 days of sunshine.

There are great courses you can visit for the day while living in whatever neighborhood you desire. The Omni Interlocken course is well situated if you are working along Hwy 36. Boulder's city course, Flatirons, boasts incredible views, big shade casting trees and plenty of hazards to keep any golfer on her toes. Out to the east of Boulder is the Colorado National Golf Course. Another fine option for a day of golf.

Ski and Golf On The Same Day

In fact, you might find yourself living in Boulder where temps are mild in the winter. In the AM, take advantage of the cooler mountain temps to get a few ski runs in at Eldora Ski Resort. From town, that ski facility is only 45 minutes away.

No highway driving required. And it features contemporary ski lifts and a groovy lodge. So in the morning, enjoy bundling up under clear blue skies and getting some fresh "Powda" runs in. Then, head for lunch at home before trading your ski gear for golf bag, boots for cleats.

In the afternoon, enjoy nine holes of golf on the Sunset Municipal course in Longmont. That's just 25 minutes from Boulder and now being a little further from the Flatirons, the temps are warming up and its still one of those warm sunny 300 days of sunshine days.

Can you believe you were carving turns just a few hours ago?

Having ditched the poles for your clubs, there is plenty of day left to get nine holes affordably in at this fun city course! That's an idea of what to expect when it comes to golf in Boulder Colorado.
