Thoughts on the Run Article:  1st Quarter 2007

Do you ever wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Or so tired you don't even want to get up?  At some time or another I am sure you have felt this way and recently this happened to me.  As I was lying in bed I thought to myself, life is a gift, today is a gift, how can I make a difference today.  (Well for starters, get out of bed!!) This thought stayed with me throughout the day and it wasn't until my second lap of running around Wash Park that it started to sink in.  If each day is a gift, we all have the choice (daily) to make it great or let it pass by.  There are numerous moments throughout each day to touch the lives of others with our actions.  Whether it's holding the door open for someone with the hands full or returning the shopping cart for the little old lady at the grocery store, or even waiting a few extra seconds for that last person to run and squeeze into the elevator.  Sometimes it is the smallest of actions that enrich the lives of others.    As I continued running on this particular 70 degree beautiful Colorado day, I thought, how can I make a difference today? Maybe I could send a card to a friend who's going thru a rough time, or drop a quick email to say hello to an acquaintance, pick up the phone and call  my niece to let her know she is thought of today, or handwrite a letter to an old friend.  None of these things take much time at all in are busy schedules,  but they do make a huge impression and will put a smile on someone else's face today!    So today as you read this, I challenge you to make a difference in the world one small positive action at a time.  Not just today, but each and every day.  Whether you wake up on the wrong side of the bed or not, today is only here once, tomorrow it will be gone. Live Today!
