arlington: Arlington Virginia Condo Inventory & Sales Report (February 2012) - 02/06/12 07:42 AM
The Arlington condo market is really hot!  Condos are selling throughout Arlington with multiple offers and the inventory is very low.  Here's some stats about Arlington Virginia condominium sales and inventory for February 2012.
Currently there are 207 condos on the market for sale in Arlington.  That may seem like a lot, but considering that 216 Arlington condos sold in the last 90 days, 207 is not that many...  54 sold in the last 30 days alone.  Based on the 90 day numbers, there's only about a 2.875 month inventory of Arlington condos.
The condos for sale in Arlington range in … (3 comments)

arlington: Flags on the Freeway - 09/11/11 01:10 AM
In the last week or so, as you drive up Route 395 through Alexandria, into Arlington, and into D.C., you will see something that you do not see every day.  It's on the overpasses.  Almost every one.
A show of patriotism.
A show of solidarity.
A sign of resolve.
A solemn reminder.
Flags on the Freeway:

In the days leading up to today, the 10 year anniversary (I wish there were a better word, since anniversary connotes celebration) of the devastating terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, American flags have been popping up on the overpasses, especially on the … (10 comments)

arlington: Northern Virginia - A Safe Place to Live - 01/28/09 12:19 AM
Whether you are a young single woman, a family with children, or even a supposedly tough guy, chances are a major consideration when deciding on a community in which to live is the following question:

IS IT SAFE?

I believe that every single client that I've helped purchase a home told me that one of their criteria was to have a home in a safe neighborhood.

Good news for Northern Virginia homebuyers (and current residents):  According to a just-released study from the University of Virginia,
NORTHERN VIRGINIA IS A SAFE PLACE TO LIVE!

arlington: Meeting Some of the Lovely Ladies of Blogging - 09/27/07 02:57 PM
Today, we had a mini-Bloggers Connect of sorts.  After 3 months on Active Rain, I had the opportunity to meet face-to-face with some wonderful Realtors who were complete strangers to me prior to July 2007, but were already good friends before we ever met in person.
Once you leave the designation of newbie behind, pass through the tween stage of blogging, and become an oldie (and believe me this can happen faster than you think), you start to notice the same people commenting on your blogs and then you find yourself commenting on their blogs.  Before you know it you establish connections, … (43 comments)

arlington: A Few Words about Foreclosures in the D.C. Area - 09/15/07 01:16 PM
Six months ago, I wrote an article about foreclosures, concluding that they were not a big problem in the D.C. and Northern Virginia area.  (SEE Foreclosure Scare – Foreclosures, Foreclosures Everywhere? Not Really in D.C. and Northern Virginia).

In that article, I quoted data showing that “The D.C. metro area averaged only 8 foreclosures per 10,000 households in the 3rd quarter of 2006.”  Well, since then foreclosure rates have doubled to a rate of 16 per 10,000 households during the first quarter of 2007.
While still much lower than the national average and most of the country, the fact … (4 comments)

arlington: Biking Around Northern Virginia and the D.C. Area - 08/31/07 02:49 AM
Throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall, Northern Virginia and D.C. residents enjoy the outdoors.  One such way is by taking to the roads, or better yet the paths... the bike paths.  Bicycling paths and multi-use trails abound throughout the Greater Washington area.  Bicycling is a great way to get some exercise, enjoy the fresh air, maybe meet some new people, learn about new areas of town, and even commute to work in an environmentally safe way while avoiding traffic.
Seven years ago when I was working for a law firm in D.C., I used to bicycle in to the office almost every … (0 comments)

arlington: Arlington Virginia Housing Market Trends: Days on Market Headed Up - 08/16/07 08:26 AM
Arlington, Virginia has remained a very strong housing market throughout the turmoils of the housing slowdown in the Greater Washington D.C. area.  Arlington remains very desirable due to its proximity to D.C., the Orange Line metro running throughout the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor, and the variety of housing styles and pricing options available.
Days on Market:  Quick Arlington Sales Slowing Down Significantly
Of the Arlington homes that went to settlement in the last 30 days, the average amount of time on the market was only 38 days.  This is still very fast and any Northern Virginia seller should be happy to have their home sell … (10 comments)

arlington: Farmers Markets in Arlington & Alexandria: Fresh Produce & Fun - 08/10/07 11:24 AM
Looking for fresh produce and fun?  Why not visit one of the many local Farmers Markets held in Arlington or Alexandria!
Usually thought to be territory for those early-risers on the weekend, there are actually local farmers markets that have extended morning hours and even afternoon hours and during the week as well.  You can usually get some of the best fruits and vegetables as well as some crafts at the Farmers Markets and get to spend some time outdoors.  Many of the farmers drive several hours to participate in the market, and it is important to support our local farmers.
