On January 22, 2013 the Katy ISD Trustees voted 7-0 to named the seventh Katy ISD High School Tompkins High School. I had previously written a blog which discussed the naming of the new school could be after Obra O. D. Tompkins Jr. who spent over 30 years of his career working in the KISD system where his legacy shows he was a trailblazer, mentor for numerous kids and dedicated educator.

The Houston Audubon Docent Guild is offering a “Saturday in Nature” at the Edith L Moore Nature Sanctuary. The program begins at 9 AM until noon. The Edith L Moore Nature Sanctuary is located at 40 Wilchester Houston, Texas. It is about 14 miles from I-10 and Highway 99 intersection meaning it is not far from Katy Texas. Wednesday January 30, 2013 the brand new Whole Foods Store in Katy Grand Lakes officially opened to the public. I have to say based on the number of the cars in the parking lot each day that the opening has been a huge success. I stopped late yesterday afternoon after 5 Pm for a quick look and the place was swarming with shoppers.
