I've been busy doing what real estate agents do best! BUYING A HOUSE! Many of you have read in my blogs about my commute to the office from Eureka Springs. Yes, the 40 mile one way stretch through the beautiful Arkansas countryside. Add about 10 miles per day to the average for running around Bentonville/Rogers to show property or otherwise tend to business. Yes lets call it 90 miles per day, 5 days a week. My clever little Nissan Murano gets about 21 mpg. I know, not great but it is so fast when I need it to be. So lets do … (29 comments)

If it's fall it's War Eagle. Every year a couple hundred thousand folks from all over the nation make their way to the War Eagle Mill in Benton County, AR. War Eagle is an operating grist mill on the banks of War Eagle Creek. The fields adjacent to the mill play host every fall to one of the largest juried craft fairs in the nation.

arkansas: Been in the country lately?

In case you have not had a trip to the country in a while, here is a picture of Beaver Lake in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. This is near the end of the cove in Hogscald Hollow, part of the lake that is attractive to buyers because the cove is narrow and few motor boats venture here. Beaver Lake boasts 36,000 acres of surface, great water quality and of course some awesome fishing. The bluffs in the area are spectacular. Bald eagles and blue Herons are never far away. Deer, wild turkey and other wildlife abound as well.
Arkansas's rich cultural heritage includes the Italian settlement of Tontitown. Located near Springdale in Washington County Tonitown is a place where Italian flavor is still strong. Several descendants of the founding Italian families still populate the community and community is a serious subject here. For over 100 years an annual Grape Festival has been drawing visitors to this northwest corner of Arkansas for a celebration of all things Italian, now with a slight Arkansas accent. I think we can all agree that these are interesting times in the real state business. While we move about our communities assisting buyers and sellers they have an uncanny ability ask great questions. We are well trained to answer in general terms. Do you know as much as you could know about the demographic make up of your area though? Can you afford NOT know for example where services for senior citizens are offered? You know CULTURE as defined by Webster's Dictionary, "the sum total of ways of living built up by a group of human beings and transmitted from one generation to another." Strange thought? We all know that no two places are alike. We also know that that is a good thing. Today I'd like to celebrate life in the slow lane in Eureka Springs. It seems certain to me that those of us that have chosen small town addresses were called by some intangible voice, perhaps yearning to escape the potential anonimity of big city zip codes. We know that our town, Eureka Springs is more like Hot Springs, AR than Houston,TX. We also know that Eureka Springs is not much like any other place at all.
