Desperate times call for desperate measures? This week I've been making calls to confirm employment and income on rental applications. Guess what? One of the "employers" turned out to be a high school friend of the agent, who asked him to vouch for the applicant. Fortunately when I pressed the "employer" for copies of pay stubs or W-2's he quickly fessed up and told me what was going on. Certainly in times when owners are losing their homes due to short sales or foreclosures clouds on credit reports may be expected. At least once a week an email or phone call comes from a military family looking to rent a home in Northern Virginia while stationed at Fort Belvoir, the Pentagon or anywhere in the Military District of Washington.
