The new contests are out and in just 3 days time, there have been a lot of posts written on the contests topics. There are some excellent posts and enjoyable reading.
Here is my challenge to you. If you haven't entered a contest, give it a try. If you would like to host a contest and have an idea, let me know and I'll put you on the calendar. If you don't have an idea but are willing to host, I have some I will share.
Take a look at the contests below that are currently running until December (35 comments)
Only 10 days to go and we will be celebrating Thanksgiving Day. This day is different for everyone depending where your family is located and your traditions. I know it is one of my favorite holidays of the year.
One thing we all have in common is that we are incredibly blessed. I am issuing a challenge to all. Starting today and each day until Thanksgiving Day write a post about something you are thankful for. It can be big or it can be small. Oftentimes the smallest blessings give the biggest joys.
Voicing our blessings makes them come to life and gets (395 comments)
activerain: Thank You ActiveRain Orlando Meetup Hosts
- 11/04/16 12:13 PM
This is a special thank you to Lisa Von Domek and Evelyn Johnston for planning and hosting the meetup at the Hilton Orlando. These lady put the word out months ago that they would serve as the hosts for the NAR Meetup and had a few surprises planned for the rest of us. It was a good group of people and most I had never met before. We all say it is like meeting old friends and that is exactly what it was. I had met Jeff Dowler in D.C. in May so it was special seeing him again. Those I recognized were Silvia (15 comments)
We have had a busy contest season the last few months. Thanks to the many hosts that have stepped up with good ideas. We are seeing a lot of involvement and a lot of bonus points being bestowed on the participants. If you have a good contest idea and would be willing to host, the schedule is being put together for next year. Send me an email and we will find you a spot.
To give you an idea of what is happening next, I thought a little peek into the topics for November might get (33 comments)
In some ways it seems like ages ago and other ways it has passed in the blink of an eye. I was one of those that signed up hoping that this would be the shot in the arm my business needed. I paid for an year in advance and wrote my first post. I completed my profile and magically points appeared. I had no idea what all that was about. I was in the dark and it took months before it started making sense.
Along the way I figured it out by watching and reading. (120 comments)
When you enter any of the ActiveRain contests and follow the guidelines, you will be awarded bonus points for participation. Your extra work pays off and provides interesting reading for the membership.
The contest host keeps a record of who is participating and at the end of the contest period turns this record into Bob Stewart. He is a very busy guy with lots of responsibilities so the points don't always get credited overnight. It takes time.
The contest host will stay on top of it and after a few days if they have not been posted a (30 comments)
ActiveRain is open to anyone that is interested in or part of the real estate industry. With over 200,000 members it is reaching across the networks and the World Wide Web featuring blog posts based on real estate topics and information with a focus on local markets. There are also some fun topics along the way. ActiveRain attracts new people every day and many take the steps to sign up and become part of the community. It is many things to many people. We want new members to embrace it and love it like (34 comments)
In early 2012 I listened to many of the training webinars on writing posts and how to get my posts to rank taught by ActiveRain staff. On June 3, 2012, I decided to make a commitment to get into the habit of writing a post a day and publishing daily on my ActiveRain blog. Part of that commitment was my motivation to get to a free ActiveRain account when I reached 500,000 points.
I have been able to keep that up by developing systems and writing some posts ahead of time when I knew I was (55 comments)
Hi Rainers...It's time for a contest that is loaded with points. This is one where we can share and learn from one another. It isn't going to be difficult unless you consider it hard to pick just one big lesson from all the lessons you have learned during your career.
The challenge is to write a post and share a lesson that you learned along the way. It may have cost you a lot of money to learn it or cost you a client or friend or you invested lots of hard (188 comments)
What's this all about? It's about all I have learned from Bob Stewart here on ActiveRain. It is about learning to blog the right way, the way that brings in calls, emails and registrations from buyers and sellers on my website. It's about making sales I wouldn't have made otherwise and building my business. Four years ago I started listening in on Bob Stewart's webinars about the secrets of writing blog posts. He shared ways to create links and the reasons why. He talked about formatting and writing a post that will look good to the consumer (28 comments)
activerain: DC Meet-Up Was Worth the Walk
- 05/10/16 02:09 PM
While being in town for the NAR Legislative Meetings I knew I had to make the DC Meet-up at Fat Pete's Barbecue. For one thing I love barbecue and second I can't come all this way without going a little further to see my AR buddies. It was a lovely evening getting to see Jeff Dowler CRS for a few minutes before he had to leave for another engagement. My husband Jack and I walked a mile to meet them and glad we did. Alan Gross and Patricia Kennedy were excellent company and dinner companions. We ate and talked for hours. Many thanks to Pat for organizing this event. (22 comments)
ActiveRain has put in place community rules and guidelines to keep the membership on track and focused on the intent of the network. They also have shared their Weltanschauung with the community that reveals their views and aspirations for ActiveRain.
This is a very curious word and most of us realize is of German origin. I consulted a friend of mine that is German and asked her about it. She said it is commonly used in their day to day language and conversations. Each person has his own Weltanschauung whether or not they have stopped to realize it or (30 comments)
When I signed up for ActiveRain in October of 2011 it was because someone in the social media circles said to grow my business I needed to be blogging. So I asked where would be the best place to start and ActiveRain was the answer.
I took it to heart, went online and found ActiveRain and joined for a full year and even paid in advance. That was how committed I was. That same day I filled out my profile and even added my photo. I was going to make sure I (57 comments)
Did you hear the news? Yes, RainCamps are coming and this came directly from the top. If you listened to the webinar last week you heard ActiveRain's owner Ben Kinney say that there will be events for the member sand RainCamps would be part of that. No dates have been announced.
He has taken RE8 on the road and some have already attended those. One was planned for today but Snowmageddon had different ideas. It was postponed so people would not have to miss because of the weather. Look for details about the new date.
All across the country people are connecting, phones are ringing and friendships are growing in the Rain. This January Challenge is about making some phones calls, and writing a post about your conversation and making someone smile. In fact many are smiling from reading the posts and how members are getting to know each other better. There is a lot of fun going on and it is almost not right that extra points are in it for those that participate. But they are...in fact 750 points for each post written up to 3.

We are the ActiveRain Family and We are Strong Being a part of the ActiveRain Community means you agree to do your part and play by the rules. This is like one big family and for the most part a happy clan that likes being together. We are a strong voice on the subject of real estate and impact the the nation by using our collective efforts and support.
The rules were set years ago but they still have meaning today and continue to work for us. The Community Guidelines state that we should believe in the rules and be willing to follow them. If you can't follow (58 comments)
activerain: Throwback Thursdays - My Top Posts for 2015
- 01/07/16 10:58 AM
Throwback Thursdays - My Top Posts for 2015 These are the kind of hits we like. I am talking about blog posts views and traffic for 2015 on ActiveRain. Though I didn't share as much as I should have which would have increased the exposure, some of these posts got lots of looks and hopefully in the future will drive more business. You can check your views too on your Traffic Stats on your home page. Posts live on and on and the longer they are out there the more views they are likely to get.
The New Year is time to meet new people and reconnect with others. The January Challenge is about making some phones calls and writing a post about what you learned. The best part is it will be fun and you will be glad you participated.
Here are the rules and they are not that complicated. You may write 1, 2 or 3 posts. Each qualifying post will earn 750 points. If you write all 3 posts one of the posts is to be about a Newbie you called. A Newbie is described as someone that (216 comments)
The New Year is right around the corner and again in January we will be Ringing and Singing in the Rain - An ActiveRain Challenge.
It is not time to get started yet and the rules are going to be slightly different so don't start making those calls just yet unless you just want to talk to an ActiveRainer now to wish them a Happy New Year. No early calls will be counted.
This was a contest that so many enjoyed last year that Bob has said let's do it again. There will be an opportunity (23 comments)
