veggies: Tomatoes, Tomatoes and More Tomatoes at Clarksville Downtown Market - 08/10/18 09:16 PM
Clarksville Downtown Market on Saturday Mornings
It has been hot the last few weeks and that has brought lots of tomatoes to the Clarksville Downtown Market. There are all kinds of peppers and veggies coming in by the basket load.
The vendors have changed week to week but some have been regulars at each market. One of my friends is selling baked good and another is selling lettuces, cucumbers, and kale. Shoppers that arrive early get the best selection and those coming later can get the best buys as vendors want to sell out and not have to haul their produce back home.

The Clarksville Downtown Market has it's final market of the season on Saturday Oct. 14. This has been a great season and the vendors have been exceptional. Some came only a few times and others were there every week. This makes each week fun and different.
Clarksville Downtown Market has had a full array of colorful fruits and veggies, crafts and foods. Now that fall is here the fall flowers, gourds, squashes, pumpkins, Indian Corn and fall decor are big items.

The baked goods, handmade items, honey and preserves are good to take home. Each week the variety changes so for the remaining … (12 comments)

veggies: Clarksville Downtown Market- Abundant Harvest - 08/20/16 07:10 AM
Clarksville Downtown Market Summer Crops

Clarksville's Downtown Market has had an abundance of produce with all the rain we have had lately. This was one of the best years for corn and it has been plump and sweet. As the season progresses local growers with their small home gardens are picking and using their own veggies and traffic at the market is less.

The peaches are at the end of the season and never came down in price but oh they have been sweet and and juicy. I made a couple of peach cobblers and served with vanilla ice cream.
Melons have been very good and last time I … (21 comments)

This has been a hot summer season at the Clarksville Downtown Market with veggies coming in by the basket load. Around Public Square you will see pretty flowers and people coming early to beat the heat and get the best pickings of fresh fruits and veggies.

Three more weeks to go and then Clarksville's Farmer's Market will be open for the season. This is one of the best local markets in Tennessee. Everything offered at the Clarksville Downtown Market is homemade or homegrown. Food vendors are also there and I always find it amusing that people are eating burritos and hot dogs for breakfast.

Clarksville Downtown Market Summer Harvest

Clarksville's Downtown Market is on the downside with only two months before it will close for the season. I can tell by the crowds that people's own gardens are coming in and they have less need to visit the vendors at the market. Or could it be that with school back in session parents are running their children to ball practice and other events?

I arrived early and my favorite vendors were busy with folks loading up their bags and boxes. I take advantage of the bulk buying plan where I get to refill my box to the limit for … (20 comments)

Clarksville Downtown Market, Christmas in July

There was lots going on at Clarksville Downtown Market today. The heat index was over a hundred so many of the regulars got there early and things were selling fast. Today was Christmas in July and several vendors brought gift items so shoppers could get a jump on their holiday shopping.
My mission for today was to get ingredients to make homemade salsa. Tomatoes, peppers and onions are being harvested in record numbers so with my purchases I intend to make a big bowl of zesty salsa tomorrow. The squash looked good too and of course I couldn't … (17 comments)

Clarksville Downtown Market Made Me Hungry

Clarksville's Downtown Market is in full swing after only two weeks. There are more vendors than ever and today the weather was perfect. I didn't get there as early as I planned and many of the fresh produce items were sold out. I won't make that mistake again. The opening time was 8am and I got there before 10am and there were hundreds of people already there. One of my favorite vendors said the crowds surprised him and almost bought him out before 9am. His shelves were bare by the time I left the market.

There were vendors giving samples … (22 comments)
