pueblo: Victorian Houses around Southern Colorado - 11/01/10 03:49 AM
Victorian Houses around Southern Colorado by Dena Stevens on November 1, 2010
Victorian houses are usually catgorized as those build between 1840 and 1900. Around Pueblo and Canon City houses are usually smaller than modern day houses. There are exceptions of course. The houses can either consist of many small rooms strung together or one main room with small rooms attached. Many in the Pueblo and the Royal Gorge MLS have been remodeled for modern conveniences. Many exteriors still look like they did originally, made up of granite, stone, brick and traditional frame.

pueblo: Real Estate Buyer Myths - 10/29/10 04:37 PM
Home buyers shouldn’t believe all the myths around these days. They should be cautious and very educated but don’t believe everything you hear.
Myth 1 : The longer a property is on the market the more you can negotiate down the price. Wrong, unless the seller tells you they are in a desperate situation they may not be willing to negotiate at all. They may not need to sell. Maybe they are just fishing to see who will bite.
Myth 2: Sellers are desprite. Wrong....

pueblo: Real Estate Seller Myths - 10/29/10 04:33 PM
Sellers need to educate themselves on all the facts of selling in a difficult market. Arm yourself with a Great Realtor and some facts. Know what the market is doing in your area, how is your property most like or different than the neighbors and do those differences make that big a difference.
Myth 1: Now is a bad time to sell. Wrong, now maybe the best time to sell. The buyers who are out looking are serious and they have low interest loans at hand. They can buy more houses now than they can when interest rates go up again. … (0 comments)

pueblo: Sellers can help attract buyers..... - 10/29/10 04:27 PM
Sellers Can Help Attract Buyers, if you are selling or thinking about selling your
Pueblo, Pueblo West, Canon City, Florence or any Southern Colorado property here are some things to think about. 1) Ask your agent to have a mortgage lender (or 2-3) prepare information sheets on what the possible price per month will be on your property. This will only be an estimate, but it will give a potential buyer an idea of what to expect in payments.
2) Buyers fear the foreclosure market. What if the bank that foreclosed was wrong? Can the original owners come back?

pueblo: What is the pitch of my roof and why do I care? - 10/29/10 04:09 PM
The pitch of your roof can be determined by taking a 1 foot level setting one end on your roof and keeping it level measure how far the other end is from the roof.  The average roof pitch varies dramatically by home style, region, local building regulations and other factors. The things to consider in roof pitch are snow loads, if you have a low slope roof snow is less likely to slide off and in some areas that can add a lot of weight during the winter months. If you have a pitch that is very steep snow can avalanche … (1 comments)

pueblo: Hello Texas! - 07/26/10 02:05 AM
Lately I've been putting much of my time and energy into my real estate blog site www.realestatecoloradostyle.com. Despite all that I've learned it's still very much a trial and error project. It's as if I have never blogged before and am learning all over again. But despite all the long hours, the mentoring and tutoring from others, I do feel as if I'm starting to succeed, even if that blogging success is limited.
One of the things I'm learning is where my hits are coming from. I check my analytics at least once a day and this little tool tells me … (11 comments)

pueblo: Remodeling in an energy efficient manner isn't difficult - 07/28/09 03:06 AM
Remodeling in an energy efficient manner isn't difficult. There are plenty of building contractors who are struggling in this economy and most will do an addition or remodel on your current house. One of the benefits to hiring a builder in your area who is familiar with energy efficient building is that they have resources including crews in place already. They are familiar with not only your county building codes but how to make them better by building you an energy efficient, sustainable and environmentally sound structure.
Recently I've been getting calls for this kind of builder. If you decide … (4 comments)

Anybody who reads my blog my think that Pueblo County CO is just flat grass land. But the truth is Pueblo has a varity of topography. The song America the Beautiful says "from the mountains to the prairies." That's what you can find in Pueblo County.
This picture is of Rye Colorado. Not far away is the town of Rye, Bishops Castle and Lake San Isabel.

pueblo: Toastmasters in Pueblo: more than browned bread - 03/22/09 02:07 PM
Masters of browned bread???
NOPE, this is a group that helps you gain confidence in public speaking. I was never terrified of speaking in public, but that didn't mean I enjoyed it. Now through the Toastmasters group I belong to I am actually starting to look forward to my speaking opportunities. If you are terrified that's okay, you can progress at your own pace, go to meetings and watch or participate. The manuals you get when you join are filled with incredible information and helpful tips and you also get a monthly magazine that is worth the cost of membership, which … (2 comments)
