Blogging is Today's "Traditional" Marketing Part Two- Another Success Story - 10/27/10 08:00 PM
Just a couple of weeks ago, I wrote about how blogging is today's new traditional marketing, and I posted a success story from my buyers' mouth. Yesterday, I closed the twin brother of the husband in the previous story! When I first got the call and the message was that he was the twin brother, I had to play the message a couple of times to make sure I heard him correctly. I had no idea there was a twin... and they're identical! The buyers from a couple of weeks ago were so happy through their buying process, that even before (49 comments)
Hill Country Galleria - Bee Cave Austin TX - Trick or Treating Events - 10/27/10 03:42 PM
Hill Country Galleria - Bee Cave Austin TX - Trick or Treating on Saturday, October 30. Actually, there will be activities all day. This is a picture of Alyssa at the Galleria last year! Man, has she changed!
From 10am-9pm, there will be Eurobungee and a Rock Climbing Wall. Wish I could do that, but I'm sure my belly would get in the way! From 3pm-7pm, there will be Bat Puppet Crafts by Art Attack. Art Attack is fun as we've gone several times to make ceramics with hand and feet prints. At 3pm, there is a Dance Performance by (7 comments)

Sweet Berry Farm - Marble Falls TX - Fall Harvest 2010 - 10/23/10 11:08 AM
Yesterday, Alyssa and I played hookie and went to visit Sweet Berry Farms in Marble Falls TX. We had never been there before. We had plans twice before to go, but things always came up. Since it's Fall, as much as it can be Fall when it's 85 degrees, it was time for their Pumpkin Patch and Hayride stuff.
We had a group of about 35 people and had a blast! We got to pick our own pumpkins. We got to paint those pumpkins. We got to feed the goats. We rode a hayride to a maze and then had (10 comments)
Wireless Frustrations - 10/21/10 04:34 PM
All day, I've been working and working at my desk and getting more and more frustrated. My keyboard isn't working... I have a wireless keyboard, so I decide to let the batteries charge for a couple of hours and type on my laptop keyboard. The batteries say "full" as I used the express charge. Put them back in, and typing is still erratic. More frustrations. I type a letter and it appears when it wants. Sometimes I type a letter and it appears 10 times. What the heck is going on? I decided a little bit ago that I was going (7 comments)
It was a lot of fun for the kiddos. They got to trick or treat at each of the hot-air balloons, there was a booth for face painting and balloon animals, and even a little haunted area where they could reach into a box and feel what's inside. The live music was provided by a local band from Westlake High School.
And Alyssa was a hit with the younger crowd. A couple (6 comments)
BabyHarris2 Update - Week 35 - Home Stretch - 10/20/10 01:36 PM
I haven't given an update about BabyHarris2 since week 19. Lots has happened since then. I'm currently in week 35!! In so many ways, time has gone by really fast. In other ways, it's been pretty slow... For those who don't recall, the baby is a boy. No, we don't have a name yet. Up until a couple of days ago, he was breech. I spent a lot of time freaking out about getting a C-Section. I tried almost everything to get him to flip. I was hanging upside down, which I'm sure was a funny site. I put a cold (10 comments)
Lake Pointe Fall Carnival - Lake Travis ISD FundRaiser - Bee Cave Austin TX - 10/20/10 10:21 AM
Lake Pointe Elementary School in the Lake Travis ISD had a huge Fall Carnival this weekend as a fund raiser. They had lots of fun games for the kids in addition to face painting and colored hair sprays. Alyssa and I went with some friends who live in the Lake Pointe neighborhood and had a blast. She went on a treasure hunt, did some bowling, threw bean bags, and even rode a tiny pony just her size!
For the first time, she was actually able to climb one of those bounce house's stairs without my help and (5 comments)
Don't Friend Me and then Spam Me! - 10/18/10 03:38 PM
Just because I friended you on Facebook doesn't mean you can spam me! Am I the only one who finds it annoying that other agents and real estate industry people are friending you only to send you all their multiple of messages a day about their next webinar or their next product or their next website they can build you, etc...? Why do I friend other real estate related people in the first place? To network and make sure they know I'm there in case they have someone they know in Austin or moving to the Austin area. I want to (18 comments)
Sunday Afternoon on the Pedernales River - Spicewood Austin TX - 10/11/10 02:18 PM
Summer is basically over, but I have not been on the boat for several months... it was time to winterize it, which meant Mike needed to take the boat out and do whatever you do to winterize it. He suggested a ride since my mom was in town. What a great idea! Alyssa loves being on the boat, and it had been a year since she had been on.
We didn't completely think about the logistics of getting the boat in and out of the water since I'm the one who usually backs the trailer down... there was no boat (11 comments)
Blogging is Today's "Traditional" Marketing - Another Success Story - 10/05/10 11:14 AM
Donna, Why do you spend so much time blogging? Why? Because that's where much of my business is coming from! How is that possible? Shouldn't you be doing traditional marketing? Blogging is today's tradition, and it's been tradition for the past few years as well! Here's my latest example of how my blog works for me. I spoke with a young family on a Friday in July driving back to Houston to close on their previous house. They mentioned they had been following my blog since January, but didn't contact me until July because they had 2 previous buyers on their (57 comments)
Foreclosures are HALF in Texas - Compared to National Foreclosure Rates - 10/04/10 11:35 AM
Texas foreclosures are HALF of the National Average, according to the Houston Business Journal! This is great news for Texas, and Austin being such a go-to place for relocation.According to numbers released by RealtyTrac last week, with the National Average of foreclosures at 24%, Texas saw a rate of a mere 11.9% in the second quarter. What's better news is this number isn't about actual foreclosures. This number is based off a transaction in some form of foreclosure process, meaning a pre-foreclosure where the bank hasn't actually taken control yet. Reading between those lines, I would stipulate that well under 10% (7 comments)
This blog is to help educate Buyers, Sellers and even other Realtors across the country. Each market is different and the way Real Estate is done is different. Austin Real Estate is completely different than Dallas, California and Florida and everywhere else in between. Some times there will be other things besides real estate as I like to rant and rave as much as the next!! Come back often!
