pleasanton ca real estate agent: On Realtors and Capitalism - 07/15/08 06:51 AM
The big news this week has been the announcement the the Federal government will stand behind Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and essentially step in to bail them out if necessary.  This is good news for the jittery housing market and certainly the battered mortgage industry.  But coming after the Fed-brokered sale (don't call it a bail out!) of Bear Stearns, it occurred to me that I am starting to get this capitalism thing.  It seems now that capitalism can be boiled down to one simple thought... take risk, and make great money when you succeed, and when you fail, the … (0 comments)

pleasanton ca real estate agent: How Soon We Forget - 03/09/08 07:28 AM
I hear a lot of Bay Area home buyers say they want to wait for "the bottom". They just are not comfortable buying in the current market with all of the negativity and the fear of more price erosion. Perhaps it's time to take a walk down memory lane and revisit the market of 2005. Because once we are past "the bottom", and all signals are pointing up, we could be right back into that kind of market. You do remember the market in 2005, don't you? In today's market, buyers have become very deliberate, and are far more sensitive to "intrinsic … (0 comments)

pleasanton ca real estate agent: New Homes on Sale! - 09/21/07 02:29 AM
It looks like some major home builders are starting to run "Sales" to generate interest in their subdivisions. This is not a new tactic, but it certainly is an indication that things are not well in the new home market. First there was Hovnanian Enterprises, who last weekend announced (with much publicity and fanfare, I might add) a 3 day sale at their subdivisions in 19 states across the country, including California. The sale effectively reduced prices by as much as $100,000. There is no truth to the rumor that if you use your Macy's card for the purchase, you get … (0 comments)
