HUMBER BAY BUTTERFLY HABITAT

Butterflies are extremely vulnerable to habitat loss.  Each species of butterfly requires a specific group of plants an which to feed, lay eggs and develop.
When any one of these plants is missing from its environment, a gap is created in the life cycle and the butterfly may be unable to survive and reproduce.
The HBBH Home Garden has been designed to demonstrate how butterfly habitat can be easily incorporated into your own backyard.  The three perennial flower beds integrate native and ornamental species which attract a wide variety of butterfly species.
The shrub beds offer shelter and food as host plants; while the stone walls act as a great spot for butterflies to warm themselves in the sun.
A GARDEN IS AS STATIC AS A PAINTING, UNTIL A BUTTERFLY BRINGS IT TO LIFE. (Jo Brewer)
