Does non-profit status make CENTS?

 
I know that there are many throughout the real estate industry that work with non-profits as a volunteer, mentor, or funds-raiser!  Some of you may have even wondered about creating your own non-profit, but aren't sure about how to go about it and what the benefits and drawbacks might be.
