Garbage Collection in Charlotte NC Delayed Due to the Weather
The ice and freezing rain that fell after the snow yesterday here in Charlotte is sticking around stubbornly since it hasn't really warmed up and stayed cloudy all day today.  The side streets are still covered in ice - my car made it to the street and no farther!
As a result of the wintry weather, garbage and recycling collection services in the city of Charlotte were suspended today.  If weather permits, they'll resume tomorrow Wed January 12th.
Residents who have a Monday or Tuesday garbage collection schedule are being asked to leave garbage (and recycling if this is your scheduled week) at the curb till all collections are finished by this Saturday January 15th. 
Then next week, garbage collection is suspended in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day so all Charlotte residents will have a one-day delay in pickup next week.
Yard waste and bulky item pickup were also suspended until January 18th.
