Yankee Ultralight Flyers...Sanderson's Field Fly-In, Greenland NH July 8-16, 2011For 20 years, ultralight and general aviation enthusiasts have been coming to Ted Sanderson's private 2,500' grass runway on Post Road in Greenland, NH in July for a week long fly-in, something resembling a cross between a rock music festival, camping expedition and sport flying adventure. With each passing year, attendance at this annual event continues to "soar" (do I hear 210,000 groans? Sorry, I couldn't stop myself), with all aircraft and the public welcome. Yankee Ultralight Flyers "Club" was founded in late 1990, originally meeting in Berwick, ME at Bob Ring's field and was chartered by the United States Ultralight Association as club number 202. Back in those days, ultralight aircraft consisted mainly of home-built small engine ultralights, but today their membership comprises the East Coast from Florida to Canada and includes not only enthusiasts of fixed wing ultralights, but powered parachutes, rotorcraft, and all manner of aviation aircraft.
