Mobile Bay is a 31 miles long body of water off the Gulf of Mexico between Fort Morgan and Dauphin Island Alabama.  On the western shore of Mobile Bay is the city of Mobile, and the communities of Theodore, Coden, and Bayou La Batre', yep!, the one from the Forrest Gump movie (Bubba Gump seafood.)
Mobile Bay is 24 miles wide at its widest point, with Spanish Fort, Daphne, Fairhope, Point Clear, and Bon Secour  boardering the eastern shore.
Mobile Bay is used by the ships coming and going into the port of Mobile. The shipping channel is around 75 feet deep, but the average depth of Mobile bay is only about 15 feet deep.
