I’m Hot!- No... I am really Hot- Heat in Attics- Wenatchee and Okanogan Home Inspection ServicesOne of the best times as a home inspector is climbing into an attic that feels like you just entered a blast furnace.On a recent home inspection I was fortunate enough to have a thermometer to just let me know how much fun I was really having.

                              If you look closely at this picture you can see the thermometer reading -40 below. Well what it is really saying is that the temperature in the attic is exceeding the 130 degree mark and working on going around again.And yes I did crawl through the whole attic!When I climbed out of this attic into the garage which was around 91 degrees and it actually felt very cool.But on a serious note, properly vented attics and insulation help control heat buildup and communication of the attic space with the living space.Understanding Attic Ventilation- Here is a building science article on the subject.
I think I need another glass of cold water just thinking about it!
