All That Glitters Will One Day be Tarnished
Nothing lasts forever. New things however look like they will stand up to time. In our minds we know this is not true, yet suspending reality for a moment to admire newness, to relish in the glitter, can not be avoided. It's just too much fun.
Another belief with something new is that it is well made and will function as expected. Experience has taught that is not in all instances necessarily true. Caveat emptor, is a phrase that has been around for millennia with good reason.
A home buyer employing a home inspector is participating in an age old practice of careful purchasing. No doubt when the buyers cruised through the house they were blinded by the glitter. Their minds imagining a plethora of wonderful homeowner scenarios. Any imperfections were blocked from their consciousness like a blinders on a trotter.
The day of reckoning, the big reveal if you will, is the day of the home inspection. Not only is the home put under scrutiny by the home inspector, but the buyers now have the opportunity to spend time wandering about the house. As the home inspection progresses, the tarnish begins to creep.
