The building is 104 years old, the oldest continuously operating store in the state of Oregon!
We, who have homes and property at Fishhawk Lake just 4 miles from Birkenfeld, and the locals from both Vernonia Oregon (24 miles away, approximately) and even Portland and the surrounding area have had the great pleasure of enjoying weekend live music, food and libation at The Birk, owned by Mike and Wendy Ingraham, who work tirelessly to bring us foot-stompin' live entertainment, casual dining and microbrews from local breweries like Astoria Brewing, as well as a full bar.  For years, we've had celebrations at The Birk, surprise parties, birthday parties, auctions to raise money for an employee of The Birk who suddenly lost her husband--all of these events the Ingrahams take in stride, presenting a kick-your-heels up atmosphere out in the middle of nowhere and people from all over are hearing about this great spot and musicians LOVE coming here to entertain us!I've written about The Birk as it's gone through many transitions, finding its niche now as The Birk Your American Roadhouse. This was one of the ... more
