Winnetka Overcrowding School Update December 2016
There is an update to my original post:   Solutions Sought for Winnetka Schools' Enrollment Imbalance.
Winnetka School District 36 decided to take redistricting off the table after the advisory committee felt it was not a viable option.  Temporary classrooms have been previously installed at Crow Island School to help alleviate overcrowding there temporarily.   The advisory committee needs to decide on an immediate solution which can be implemented by the start of school in Fall 2017.
At the last meeting on November 29, it was decided to concentrate on four proposals:
no kindergarten classes offered at Crow Island
some kindergarten classes at Crow Island
no fourth grade classes at Crow Island
retain all kindergarten and fourth grade classes at Crow Island and add two additional temporary classrooms. By eliminating kindergarten at Crow Island (option 1), two classrooms be opened up.  Kindergartners could potentially attend class at any of the other schools.
As before, community input is being sought by the committee before they present to the board in January. Additional meetings will be held at Carlton Washburn School for the public on:
December 7:   9-10:30 am
December 14:  7-9 pm
January 5 - 7-9 pm
... more
