The weather cooperated today at the Goshen Fire & Ice Festival, from 5 to 9 pm, as the community watched the ice sculptures being made. In the past, some festivals were not cold enough to keep the blocks of ice frozen, but today's high temperature was 10 above with a wind chill of below zero.
Not only were the sculptures kept frozen, but with the lake effect wind and snow coming from Lake Michigan, some of the attendees may have thought they were also frozen sculptures. Downtown Goshen, Inc. was well prepared, as they had marshmallow roasting stations throughout the area, where the public could join in roasting marshmallows, or just hanging out near the warmth of the fires.
A Fire and Ice Party,  also took place as the festival was being held in the 100 block of East Washington Street. Local restaurants participated in fiery foods with 8 vendors and Ice Cold Beer, wine and a Vodka Tasting.
Other activities included the Goshen High School Drama Club performance of "Almost Maine" with Free popcorn for attendees.  The public library hosted a "Frozen" sing-a-long and the Boomer Boys performed in concert, as local ... more
