Sometimes new business pops up in the most unlikely of places.   Open houses, while held for a seller to market a home, can also bring new faces and new business.  We meet new clients in the most unlikely of places, but when and where we might not know.  
 
About 3 months ago, I held an open house for another agent in my office.  The listing was a few blocks from my home, which is why I offered to assist.  I can speak intellligently on this area as I've lived in the area for almost 20 years.   I can name the schools, the municipalities, the attractions, and why this zip code is a great place to live.  
 
My intent has been to focus on this zip code, 85254, so the home listed for sale that I held open was the perfect place to spend a Saturday afternoon.   Armed with laptop, comparable sales, and treats for visitors, I was ready to go!
 
The open house produced a homeowner, among other leads, with a home currently listed for sale.  He was forthcoming, telling me it's listed for sale but with no offers.  He asked me to visit the home.  Usually in this situation I hesitate as he's ... more
