ABOUT PLACENCIA VILLAGE


Placencia is located on the southern tip of a peninsula next to the coastal lagoon and the Caribbean Sea. Riverside, to the north cuts through the towns of Maya Beach and Seine Bight and ends in the south part of Placencia Village. Over the years, tourists have come to know Placencia as the “Jewel of Belize”. In February the Village hosts a “Sidewalk Arts Festival” where many local artisans show off their best work.

 
Previously an ancient Mayan Fishing Village, Creole Fishmerman habitated to Placencia and took on work in the village. The families that have derived from that civilization now operate the numerous tourism business' in the village.

There are a number of businesses in Placencia Village; The Moorings charter boat rentals, Boson’s Chair internet café, Scotia & Atlantic Bank, Beach Bazaar gifts, Gelateria ice cream, Tipsy Tuna sports bar, De Tatch restaurant, Nite Wind adventure guides, Z-Touch beauty salon, & Wallen’s Drugstore. All of these help make Placencia Village, a mecca for both tourists and locals alike.

There are numerous things to do in and around Placencia Village, things such as: kayaking, fly fishing, snorkeling, diving, and specifically trips to areas such as Laughing Bird Caye, Monkey River or Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary. .
