Reblog: How dare you sell my neighbors house that fast. Who do you think you are? - 02/26/12 10:58 AM
Gananoque, On It doesn't really matter where you live when you're trying to sell your home. The following article identifies all that is important in getting your place sold! Thanks Scott!! Susan Emo Your Gananoque Realtor Via Scott Godzyk, One of Manchester NH's Leading Brokers (Godzyk Real Estate Services): An interesting thing happened, I listed a home less than 2 weeks ago, there was 2 other homes for sale on the street. Within 7 days we had multiple offers and under contract in 7 days. The neighbor came running over as i was changing the sign to "Sale pending" In a huff she

World's Smallest Working Dog - Adorable! - 02/21/12 12:55 PM
Anyone who knows me, knows that I absolutely adore animals of all kinds. Growing up, we were always surrounded by pets of all shapes and sizes: goats, cats, a horse, Irish Wolfhounds, Giant Schnauzer and even now in our home you'll find 2 Australian Shepherds and 2 toy poodles. When I heard about Lucy, I knew I had to share this story with the many animal lovers out there . . . This little, teeny, tiny dog is a working dog . . . and, she is a rescue!! At only 2.5 pounds, Lucy recently was certified by the Guinness Book

GUESS WHERE I'M GOING IN GANANOQUE TONITE? - 02/16/12 01:56 PM
Guess where I'm going tonite in the 'metropolis' of Gananoque?? I'm going to The Socialist Pig for a latte and there, Mark Sinnett, the author of The Border Guards will be reading from his book (and I hope to get an autographed copy too.) There is only 1 copy left in stock at Amazon and this is part of their review of same: "Set primarily in Kingston and the Thousand Islands area, a popular summertime playground that in winter becomes a treacherous and desolate locale seemingly populated primarily by spies, smugglers, and border patrols, The Border Guards features a colourful

ROMANTIC IN FRONT OF THE TV - WE'RE BOTH HAPPY! - 02/14/12 06:25 PM
We both agreed to never ever ever go to a restaurant again on Valentine's Day - we were always disappointed in the meal, the service, the ambiance and regretted leaving our own home. Instead, we have a gorgeous meal of our favourite foods: fresh oysters, lobster bisque, crab stuffed mushrooms and individual Beef Wellingtons . . . of course followed by something chocolate for my husband. The nicest of wines and champagne and liquours. The table is set,

SAINT VALENTINE REALLY GOT AROUND! - 02/14/12 12:08 PM
Saint Valentine really got around . . . this is one busy busy Saint! Or, was there two different Saints? Did you know the Patron Saint of Epilepsy is also Saint Valentine? (along with another 40 Saints!) It seems the bigger, greater the disease, the more saints that were assigned to the task!! There are two saints with the name Valentine who are worshipped in the Roman Catholic Church: Valentine of Terni, patron saint day February 14, and Valentine of Rhaetia, patron saint day January 7. Historically, people with epilepsy are portrayed in images of both these St. Valentines.

THIS MESSAGE WILL SELF DESTRUCT IN 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 BOOM! - 02/13/12 11:29 AM
I always loved that part in the spy thrillers where the message would self destruct after being read. Now, we have that same ability with some of our more sensitive or confidential emails . . . OneShar.es has a smart solution to safeguard sensitive information that’s very Bond, James Bond! "The web tool allows people to easily share private information, whether its via your mobile device (apps for iOS and Android) or your browser window. The recipient has one chance to view the information and when he or she closes out, it self destructs." (from their website) Don't take

KINGSTON, ONTARIO VOTED "MOST ROMANTIC CITY IN CANADA" !!! (my hometown!!) - 02/11/12 01:28 PM
Just in case you needed one more reason to buy a home in Kingston Ontario . . . Kingston came in first place in Amazon's 2012 contest The Most Romantic City in Canada !! I was born and raised in Kingston so this comes as no surprise to me. I now live just a few minutes outside the City, in the Town of Gananoque which is equally (or greater) romantic but this contest was limited to Cities in excess of 80,000 people. (we have 5200 if we're lucky) The fun part is both places are equally gorgeous, both situated on

Are we reliving the 60's ? - 02/07/12 04:58 PM
The Chew (a tv cooking show) spoke of the 60's being a time when people realized they could afford to entertain at home by way of dinner and cocktail parties. It became a time when food was more than just sustenance. It was a time of the ever popular Avocado Green appliances too. Then we went thru the seasons of almond, black, white and stainless . . . Guess what? Nowadays, many people can't afford to go out to eat so they've come back to home entertainment. Dinner parties are huge again! Also, the ever popular coloured kitchen

SOMEBODY'S READING YOU - DO YOU KNOW WHO? - 02/05/12 03:02 PM
Gananoque, ON Each month I like to take a look back at my most viewed posts and see what is getting read the most. Often what is getting the most views doesn't match up with the most comments left. This is encouraging to me because I block any comments from non-members to avoid the dreaded spam. So if I'm seeing alot of Views, it tells me that perhaps it is the public finding, and reading my posts. But then again, I KNOW it is the Public finding me because month after month it is my Localism posts that get

What Is Wrong With Some of You? - reblog - 02/04/12 06:53 PM
Like Jackie, I too live only 5 minutes from my office. Some days I thank God for not having been killed along the way. Why is it we have these imbeciles who not only think they can drive and text at the same time but also when they're still drunk from the night before?! I would LOVE to see more police check points in the morning, nailing these arrogant drivers and immediately removing their license on the spot. Thanks Jackie! Re-Blog: Why Are Buyers and Sellers Willing to Shoot Themselves in the Foot Over Relatively Small Dollar Amounts? - 02/03/12 02:49 PM
Gananoque, ON If you are considering buying or selling, this is a great article to read. Sometimes you need to take a leap of faith (on both sides) and ask yourself if it is really price or ego getting in the way. I will never advise a Buyer to pay over their max budget if it will put them in jeopardy but sometimes a few extra thousand won't break the bank! Thanks Chris Ann!! Reblog: Ten things to remove before listing... - 02/03/12 11:27 AM
Gananoque, On It doesn't matter where your home is, this Top Ten applies! We never ever live in our homes in the same way as when we're selling our homes - we need to realize this and detach ourselves from it as early as possible. If you're thinking of selling your home in the Gananoque or Kingston area, take note of the following and then give me a call! Susan Emo Via Lindsey Hasford (Coldwell Banker Vision): Everyone has heard rumors of de-cluttering when it's time to sell your home. But, what does that really mean? Before going hog wild and moving

WARNING: DON'T OVER IMPROVE! - 02/01/12 02:35 PM
Gananoque, On Of course you want to display your good taste to the world . . . You want to be known as the trend setter . . . Of course you can afford it . . . Money is no object! Unless you are planning on flipping your new investment property. Then none of the above applies!! Yesterday. I was approached by an out of area Buyer wanting to invest in a property local to me. There is some TLC required but structurely, the house is solid. The Buyer starts listing all the things she wants to do with
