Hey, Tysons Corner, you've got mail.
Well, sort of.
This week the Postal Service did not approve Tysons or Tysons Corner as its own city.
And it did not give it its own ZIP code.
But it did approve "Tysons" and "Tysons Corner" as an official address.
Fairfax County received approval for businesses and residents to use a "Tysons" or "Tysons Corner" address provided it is attached to either the McLean ZIP of 22012 or the Vienna ZIP of 22182.  Both will get your Tysons addressed mail delivered.

For many, especially those who are new to the area, the system of jurisdictions that we have in the Commonwealth of Virginia can be confusing. This is especially confusing in Northern Virginia, where Virginia intersects with Washington DC and the State of Maryland.
Fortunately I have a fresh bottle of CONFUSION-B-GON to spray liberally as needed.
Around our nation's capital Let me start with my single-biggest pet peeve among newcomers: the term "DC proper".

The George Washington Memorial Parkway, often called the GW Parkway by locals, meanders through parks on both sides of the road and is usually within close proximity to and sight of the Potomac River. The US Park Service maintains this and all parkways. Parkways are designed to be scenic meandering roads with light traffic. Despite finding a path through the most urban parts of Northern Virginia, the GW Parkway largely accomplishes these goals.
