horse: Best Christmas EVER, Victor Idaho 2011 - 12/26/11 01:26 AM

When Reagan (9yrs old) agreed with me that this is the best Christmas EVER! I asked her why she too felt this way. Reagan said, "We forget how great the years before were". Such insight!ALWAYS focus on the positive!

We are so lucky (blessed) to live in this high mountain valley. Here in Victor of Teton Valley Idaho Christmas is always special.

The crew played Street Soccer; we had a neighbor come out to see what all the fun was about!

horse: Small Ranch Teton Valley, Victor Idaho - 03/01/11 01:37 AM
What constitutes a ranch? Some would say I have a small ranch here in Teton Valley. I guess a ranch is a property used for cattle production, although for me it takes a while to trot across a ranch. Size Matters? (foal born at home 2009)

We live in Victor Idaho and have had a few cows on the place. I really like calving at home where the family can share in the experience. We only have an 8 acre piece and I do not go around calling it a Ranch, but for some that visit from other parts … (5 comments)

horse: Lewisville Idaho Cutting Clinic - 06/09/10 01:54 AM
I attended the ICHA Cutting Clinic, presented by Brian Anderson and Scott Martin, which was held on Thursday, June 3rd at 9am (in conjunction with the NCHA Weekend show) at Skaar Feedlot in Lewisville, Idaho (just north of Idaho Falls).  The clinic was great, thanks to Brian and Scott for their efforts. Darcy fed us with a great lunch and the good people that I schooled with were great to be around. And a big thanks to the Skaar Family for putting up with us all.

horse: Horse Bucket Brusher, Victor Idaho of Teton Valley - 04/21/10 01:31 AM
Reagan and I had a lesson in cow horse 101 yesterday; she is THE horse "bucket brusher" in Victor Idaho of Teton Valley. We moved a few cows around the arena for fun. I am not sure if she had as much fun as I did, it would have been close. Our girl is not quite old enough to start riding with the 4H club but she is sure ready to show. Rea has a desire to ride; she tries to saddle her own horse, catches him with no problem and can climb on by herself. It helps a lot that … (0 comments)

horse: They may be Old, but they are Spirited and Capable - 02/06/10 06:13 AM
This is My Dad and Sandy after a half day of riding. They may be getting old, but they are still spirited and capable. These two can still go from long before daylight till way after sun down. I want to shout out a special thanks to my dad for teaching me how to work hard and for showing me what it means to have that "no quit" attitude. Yeah, we are cowboy through and through, and we love it.

horse: We Love Teton Valley Idaho, Girls on a Sleigh Ride - 01/25/10 11:04 PM

Here is yet another great reason we love Teton Valley Idaho. As I take our girls for a ride on the sleigh we have a chance to visit and grow. On this kind of expedition something amazing happens, we talk to each other. In this modern era of electronics and gadgets this is not as common as it should be. Anyone have kids that listen to an iPod or text while riding with you in the car? While on a sleigh ride things slow down a century or so. As Twister jigs, the bells that my Dad gave me make a soft … (4 comments)

horse: Rough Trail on a Rough Ranch - 01/05/10 02:12 PM
Helping these old boys (ok, so my brother Wesley is only nearly 50) on old horses move a few head we rode a rough trail on this Rough Ranch. These horses may be old, I think Sunny is 28, but sure footed they are. When I am old I hope I still have a job to do! Here are a few pictures of the "Trail", if you have a hard time seeing exactly where the trail is, don't worry, I was there riding it and was not sure as my horse where the trail was. They say a picture is worth … (0 comments)

horse: White Burro Rides Point - 01/05/10 04:48 AM
This white burro "rides" point and is guided from behind the cattle that are being moved. The dog works the calves back into the herd and the cowboy (my dad) orchestrates the chaos. I have told this story to several friends, but without a visual I am not sure how accurate the vision in their mind could be.  This 17 second clip is as good as it gets with my Dad, he is camera shy and I had to get this footage on the sly. Usually this would be 12 to 25 Black Brangus (the kind that tops the sale) but … (3 comments)

horse: Stop and smell the sage, Victor Idaho - 10/12/09 01:41 AM
Well, I've been practicing up for a ranch roping in billings. For the last week I saddle up and trot a mile or so over  to the arena at Saddleback, here in Victor Idaho. I have been going to swing a long rope with a couple of good friends in preparation for competition in Billings Montana at what some have referred to as the "supperbowl of ranch roping", the Nile. And for a week every day my 7 year old girl asks to go with. Finally the day before we leave it warms up just a touch and I slow down just … (1 comments)
