nc: Why would anyone jump into the ocean off New England in February? - 02/03/13 11:46 PM
We didn't raise any money with my son Charles' first shave at halftime at the Superbowl yesterday so I thought I would share a successful event that raised over $688,000 for Special Olympics yesterday.
Sunday the Superbowl was not the only big event around. It was also the 13th annua; Penguin Plunge to benefit Special Olympics at Hampton Beach NH. Over 1100 people jumped into the 43 degrees water to raise money. $688,000 was raised.

nc: Experts Predict Housing Recovery in 2013 - 01/05/13 09:44 AM
It has been about 6 years now that I have waited to make this official post.  Not "we are hopeful," not "things are more upbeat." and it is not "we are feeling positive."

There is independent data that suggests that the housing recovery is in well underway.  Veros Real Estate Solutions  (VRES) is a real estate data firm and it recently announced  its recent analyses of the twelve month period ending December 1, 2012 as well as its forecast for the 12-month period ending December 1, 2013. VRES indicates that “the national real estate market has hit bottom and is … (2 comments)

nc: A Dated Front Door Is Like Gray Hair On Your House - Color It! - 12/30/12 09:03 PM
2013 is going to be a year of boldness.  I am committing to do a better job encourageing my clients to do what is necessary to get top dollar for their homes.  We do this for our children.  We encourage them to do things to be better and happier for it.  Here is a good example of how a $20 paint job changed the sales price and days on market of this lovely home.
As a New Hampshire Home Stager I've seen many prematurely gray homes....older than their years.
Is your front door showing it's age?  It's time for a color!

nc: For Buyers: Negotiating 101 - 12/28/12 10:55 PM
Negotiations are a large part of our business.  I see good negotiators in the marketplace and I see bad negotiators.  When I represent the seller, I love to see a bad negotiator bringing an offer and when I represent the buyer, I love to negotiate for the best price possible.  My appreciation of this may come from my travels abroad, negotiating in the marketplace and some of it may just be that I have learned the right questions to ask.  If you want a strong negotiator on your side and you are considering a home purchase call me!

nc: Holiday Staging by a Morris County Stager - 12/03/12 01:02 AM
Just wanted to send out some beautiful photos and help with decorating your home for the holidays with a theme of "An Ole' Fashioned Christmas" with live greenery and some natural decor!  Enjoy decorating this Christmas!
Holiday Staging by a Morris County Stager
One of the things I love most about being a Morris County, NJ home stager is decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas. This year I collected antiques over the past year from garage sales and antique shops like mercury glass jars, ornaments, vases and candle holders. I even found a pair of early 1900’s snow shoes!
Then I decide … (1 comments)

nc: How to Address Short Sale Seller Stalls and Objections - 11/29/12 02:46 AM
I am constantly asked for information regarding short sales.  There is a time and a place for everything and there are definitely times that a short sale is a life saver!
Agents often complain about the short sale transaction; they are long and frustrating. However, the best feature of a short sale listing is that there are very few seller stalls and objections. Since the seller will not net any money from the sale, the purchase price is generally not objectionable. Additionally, since the seller is not paying the real estate commission, this is not an area of seller concern

Is Your Favorite Color Plaid? Here are Four Ways To Use Plaids in Your Winter Decor.

nc: Promise Yourself - 11/01/12 02:52 AM
We all have things we need to work on and we all need to be aware of the people around us that are going through hard times and need encouragement.

Promise Yourself

Promise yourself to be so strong

That nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness and prosperity

To each and every person that you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is

Something special in them .

To look at the sunny side of everything

And make your optimism come true.

nc: A New Day - Do you do practice insanity - 09/23/12 03:35 AM
An evangelist once entitled a great sermon "Its a new day!"  It was a game changer for me back in 2000.  Ever since then when I hear anything about remembering that each day can be a new beginning, I want to put it out there!

“We can evade reality, but we cannot evade the consequences of evading reality.” Ayn Rand
So many people keep doing the same old things and keep expecting to get different results from doing those same old things.
A wonderful definition for insanity!
Today may be the perfect day to stop doing those things that … (0 comments)

nc: The "Day of Equity" is approaching FAST! - 09/16/12 01:02 AM
There is a very cool, relatively unknow app by Google called Google Sky available that helps those of us who slept through astonomy class in college.  Check it out and use it on the22nd!
The specter ‘neath the lintel waits,Then bursts full-force against the gate,No bolt restrains, no lockset blocksTis Autunm’s looming eqiniox!          (R Weisser 2012)
As the Earth continues its yearly journey around the Sun, we are approaching the semi-annual “Day of Equity!”
It’s an interesting phenomenon, as 363 days a year the tilt of the Earth upon its axis results in the number of daylight hours … (1 comments)

nc: Anyone Still NOT KNOW How To Operate An Airplane Seat Belt? - 09/13/12 07:55 AM
It seems to me that technology would have caught up with the air attendants having to repeat this many times.  Like other things in life, sometimes we need to remind people of the basic rules of life even if it doesn't seem like they are listening...
For what seemed like the gazzilionth time, I watched and listened to the pre-flight, safety briefing as I settled in aboard a flight recently.  We've all heard and seen these briefings before:  At some point, a flight attendant stands in the aisle and demonstrates the proper way to open and close a seat belt while a … (0 comments)

nc: A New Day - Fish or Flowers - 09/04/12 12:02 PM
I am realizing all of the time that we are so ready to stick with what we know instead of venturing out to see the flowers just waiting for us to discover with very little effort...

There's an old story of a woman who sold fish all her life and knew nothing else. One fine summer day, she was invited to the queen's palace to help prepare a royal festival.  When she was shown to her room, she found it filled with fragrant flowers. "How disgusting," she complained. "Please take me back and let me sleep near my pile of … (4 comments)

nc: In real estate, the written contract has the final say in the matter. - 08/29/12 11:39 PM
I feel like I am constantly reminding my clients that until we get negotiations on paper, it is not a deal.  In 19 years selling Cabarrus county real estate, I have learned that even though we would like to think people's word is their bond, when a better deal comes around, that bond can weaken pretty quickly.
I have had to deliver some devastating news to some clients this week. It’s never pleasant when a transaction that has been going along smoothly abruptly ends.
And it’s not always just about money. Human emotions play a big role in how we react to … (1 comments)

nc: Somebody Went In My Closet, Opened the Windows and Left on the Lights - 08/28/12 01:36 AM
I am pretty good at having my general living areas cleaned up for company.  Having all of my bedrooms, closets, drawers, yard and everything ready for people to look through every day would make me stressed out too! Therefore, we hear it all from sellers....
As an agent I really hate getting these calls after home showings, but I'm never surprised:
"Somebody went in my closet."
"Windows were left open."
"Somebody went to the bathroom and didn't flush." (Yes, really.  I've had this complaint.)
"The light in the <insert name of room> was left on."
"The back door was unlocked."
"I left … (0 comments)

nc: Get Your Home Ready to Sell in 30 Days! - 08/15/12 02:10 AM
Some of us work best from a list.  I think this list will help individuals who are just looking for a list to help keep their home clean daily, not just people looking to get their home on the market in thirty days.  Anyway...enjoy!  And if you are listing your house and you magnetize this list to your refrigerator...we will have to find another place for it before the photographer comes! :)

nc: The Historic Village of Gold Hill - 07/06/12 08:59 AM
A recent visit to The Historic Village of Gold Hill proved to be something I had not expected.  Quite a destination in all actuality.  We felt as though we had not only left our regular lives and entered a new dimension, but we also felt that this place being less than 30 minutes from our Target was more than amazing. The shops are open Thursday through Saturday 11-5:00 and Sunday 1-5.  The restauraunt is also opne until 10:00.  Their website is www.goldhillnc.com.  A more charming destination could not be found and the event calendar is sweeping. I would be willing to … (0 comments)
