I have finally finished the insert on the fireplace, after taking everyones advice and painting it pewter.
MY FIREPLACE "RE-DO" BEFORE AND AFTERS  ( About time I know !!!) However, it was my fireplace and was not done as a staging job, but wanted to share with you so in case you ever needed to update a fireplace. What a total difference that it made. Thanks to all who gave me great suggestions.

The staging here in East Tennessee is slow for me, anyways, right now. So to help my pocketbook I decided to do some HOLIDAY DECORATING, something that I have done for years for free for my family and friends. I did a declutter last week for a friend of mine and even though she thought that she needed to declutter it was NOT as cluttered as some that I have seen. I wish that they all could be this easy. When we got into the moving things out we also made changes all through the house. We changed out art work from one room to another, etc. Gave the home a new look all together. Recently I was contacted ( through Active Rain ) by a seller to stage her mother's older home. I did the walk thru, make the presentation, and got the job for "Vignette Staging".  The home is older, but has some very well done upgrades. Even with the upgrades the home is still an older home. I guess that I am one of the fortunate ones...I received a call from a lady whose home had been on the market for almost a year. She needed a stager FAST.... I am just the person I was eager to inform her...( No ego here !!) The staging job was fast and simple, just some moving here and there...paint had already been done..my job was sooooo simple.

Our second East Tennessee Chapter meeting of ASHSR was held March 18, 2009.. Copper Cellar Knoxville, TN..We had a guest speaker, Walta Patt, owner of Powell Florist, Powell TN..She is going to be partnering with the different members in rental of accessories. This a win win situation for all involved as we as stagers do not have to invest in many different types and colors of accessories and she will be able to move product that she has now. Have any of you tried this and how did it work for you ? I would love to have your comments.

I came up with this idea several years ago and had the photos in my powder room, at that time the saying was " you must remember this..a kiss is just a kiss", when I moved I wanted to keep my "Kissing Wall', so I placed the photos in the foyer. The photos are in black and white and framed in black frames, various sizes. Thought that I would share with you a LITTLE project that I did last weekend. My fireplace was brick (ugly colored brick) so thought that I would jazz it up alittle...I primed the brick with Kilz, that was a pain..The brick was uneven and gaps between the brick so had to use a very small paint brush...took forever...

So here is the end result...I am really proud of it and think that the outcome was worth the work !!! The photo is alittle dark...but it is painted a semi-gloss black...  Now I have to find a fireplace screen..Thought of taking this off and … (10 comments)

I opened my front door this morning to let the dogs out. Sitting on the front steps was a stack of baskets....my first thought was, as I have just moved to this neighborhood, that it was the "Welcome Wagon".   
 On closer look, it was from a friend of mine that was cleaning her attic and bought several baskets and never used them so she thought that I could use them in my staging !!!! What a wonderful gesture on her part...

Just when I thought that my days of being "Queen Loo" were over and the subject of commode covers could finally be put to rest ( or lets say the lid could be closed on the subject).... I get an e-mail from a lady who has read one of my blogs and asks where she can purchase a commode cover as she is unable to find one like I had shown in the post JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT THAT YOU HAD SEEN IT ALL... This among others is the Santa Cover.

This is a high value home and the builder had completed the home several months ago. In fact he was actually living in the home and trying to sell at the same time. The budget was small on this one, so basically we did vignette staging in several rooms, just to give a lived in feeling for an open house.
I know the photos are not well done but you can see what we did, what do you think, did we accomplish what we tried to do, in your opinion?

I remember when I was just starting out on this venture. Starting my own business, not knowing what to do or better yet how to do it !!! I had questions and more questions. I decided to get my training at HSR and realized right away that I had made the right decision to sign with them. I was singing at the top of my voice !!!! It has really paid off...I get referrals from the HSR website and lots of weekly information from HSR... So that is how HOME STYLE AND STAGING LLC was born....
