Going the distance 7.46 km Bloomsday Spokane
Entries are pouring in for one of Spokane's most popular events: Lilac Bloomsday Run. Race Number 42 is Sunday, May 6th.
Enjoying my status as a perennial (an ever diminishing number of runners who have participated in each and every Bloomsday) motivates me to continue taking part in Bloomsday. Last year there were 88 of us. Perennials are rewarded with a "special" T-shirt each year and now instead of reading "I've run them all" they read "I've run done them all". The organizers understand the demographics of this group. My estimate is the perennials range in age from over 42 to over 90.

Scammers, Charlatons and Public Nuisances in Spokane, Washington
My office has received three phone calls from women who were solicited for "personal" loans.....IF THEY SENT $100 TO INDIA...... Someone was using my company name and phone number.
I was happy to tell these callers they should run not walk away from any offer which requires money to be wired in advance of any service, any time, any where. I also told them that we only do residential lending for refinancing and home purchasing and have never offered "personal" loans of any type.

Tana and I just returned from Spokane's Annual Home & Yard Show. Even if the groundhog did see his shadow, our thoughts are of spring.

It is not unusual to think that the only purpose for a home appraisal is to find "good comps" and determine home values. My overall knowledge is a pool of information that comes from appraisals ordered, received and paid for over the years. Occasionally, I am happily surprised by the value but more often the values are disappointing. Low compared to the elevated home values of a few years ago -- but depressingly accurate for the current market.

Up to 3 chickens are allowed in the backyard of Spokane homes. I'm told that hens are normally very quiet and that's good. Roosters, however, are considered a nuisance, because of their loud and shrill call which we can all vividly imagine. Some breeds may live 5 to 10 years.
Everyone is atwitter (no pun intended) about eating fresh and eating local. It doesn't get any better than this with chickens in your backyard and fresh eggs in the nest! You should have plenty since some egg laying breeds may produce as many as 300 eggs per year.

Fun new store opening on Spokane's South Hill! Auctions are great places to meet people. Spokane's Owen's Auction Gallery is relocating this May and I can't wait to browse through all the "treasures" and to visit with folks who have a little time on their hands and a little money.

I'm walking along and before I know it, this guy towering 16 feet tall and weighing 5 tons is proudly standing on a corner lot with a granite monument next to him. Where did he come from? Have you seen him before? Do you know where to find him in Spokane?
Perhaps some clever citizens with a talent for welding scrap metal into sculpture created this lego-man on steroids. I challenge you to find him and take your picture with him!

Have you noticed those little boxes that look like Scrabble boards popping up in advertisements all over the place? They look like this:
These are called QR Codes. This particular one is a link to my own website.
QR Codes are exactly the same as the bar codes at grocery stores. To read them, you just need a QR scanning application. The "app" is a free download right on your phone.
