spam: Spooky Things are Happening All Over Carlsbad - 10/15/22 07:37 PM
Spooky Things are Happening

It’s that time of year – the Halloween Season – and lots of spooky things are popping up all over our neighborhood, and have been for a while.

No doubt the same is true in your neighborhood, or at least in your larger community.

Our grandchildren are visiting this weekend and had a great time exploring some of the many spooky things on our street. Our neighbor’s is just one of many!

Do you have any favorites in YOUR neighborhood? If so, I hope you will share with us.

spam: My Listing is Also a Rental – REALLY??!! - 09/17/12 10:26 AM
My Listing is Also a Rental – REALLY??!!
I was quite surprised by a call from an Orange County agent recently about my listing in Emerald Lake Village, a 55+ community in Oceanside.

Not surprised that I got the call, but why the caller was ringing me.

“I’m calling about your listing at 3590 Amber Way in Oceanside.”

“Yes, how can I help you?”

He then proceeded to tell me about a family member relocating to the area from the desert who was potentially interested in purchasing but wanted to rent for until her house sold.

spam: A Spammer Helped Me Fix my Website - 07/25/12 04:03 AM
A Spammer Helped Me Fix my Website
It is exceedingly rare for me to say that a spammer has been helpful.

They have helped me garner some points, plus share some sarcasm, on ActiveRain (The Advantages of Spam on ActiveRain) and I was able to refresh my college French due to a spammer (Oui Oui Spam en Français).  Beyond that I find spam abhorrent.

But I owe a big THANK YOU to a spammer yesterday who helped me fix my website.

I got an email, clearly spam, letting me know there were 3 broken links on my … (31 comments)

spam: When Blogging and Comments Aren't Fun - 05/13/11 12:20 AM
We've all had moments when blogging and commenting are not fun.
Sometimes the work we produce is not our best, for a variety of reasons. Or the topic we are writing about is unpleasant.
And there are those times when the article we write causes controversy, negativity, flaming and other bad behavior. Thankfully, it's not often. It's not fun when it happens.
And then, there are times when you discover you have been copied.
Someone takes your hard efforts, presumably because they are impressed, and I guess because they have no respect for your authorship and don't care, are very naive, and/or they … (33 comments)

spam: Cool! I Won an iPad - 12/22/10 01:46 PM
Cool! I Won an iPad  I was so excited to learn today that I had won an iPad. What a wonderful Christmas present. I couldn't believe my good fortune.

Of course as soon as I read the email a bit I knew I was being duped. I mean, how obvious can you be?! Here's the text:

spam: Oui, Oui. Spam en Français - 09/17/10 03:34 AM
Oui, Oui. Spam en Français
Incroyable!!
Nike has gone international. Or perhaps the French are getting in the act.
Either way I got to enjoy my spam ce matin en français. And I could read it...thanks to 2 years of French in college many years ago (I passed despite a very rowdy freshman year) and several vacances à Paris.
It seems SPAM is one of those universal words that other languages do not translate, at least the French don't. No doubt they refuse.
Did you know the French government created a platform several years called Signal Spam whereby folks could report … (22 comments)

spam: An Offer from a Princess - 09/09/10 05:43 AM
An Offer From a Princess  My head is still agog.
I have an offer from a princess. A REAL LIVE PRINCESS.
At least she claims to be one, and since Daddy was a king I suppose that's right.
It's quite an offer. Not an offer on a house, as you may be thinking, but an offer to spend some money... a helluva lot of money.
$8,200,00 in fact.
Can you see why I am trembling with anticipation?
I mean, how lucky can a guy get...an offer from a princess worth millions. I even have her cell phone number. Plus an invite … (41 comments)

spam: My Posts are Getting UGGly - Bet Your Posts Are Too!! - 10/21/09 04:19 PM
It seems my posts are getting ugly. Or perhaps, more correctly, the comments are.
The Ugg spammers are very active once again. At least they like my posts. I had 6 Ugg spam comments today.

Don't get me wrong, I rather like Uggs, and they are very popular here in California. In the chilly weather folks wear them with shorts. I'm no style critic, but that's kinda odd - my opinion - but popular nonetheless. I have a pair of Ugg slippers that are wonderful so I can't criticize too much. Especially since I wear them to the grocery store sometimes.

spam: SPAM is ALive and Very Well Today on ActiveRain - 07/15/09 11:39 AM
Wow, I haven't seen a rash of spam on AR like this in a very long time. I suspect others are finding it too - but if not watch for it in comments on your posts or on posts you have commented on (and so you get an email).

So far in the last hour I have gotten notice of new comments on 3 of my posts, and one from another post I commented on. And they are all pretty much the same garbage.
"Hi all. What more felicity can fall to creature, than to enjoy delight with liberty. Help … (37 comments)
