They say that a chilly, damp summer in the Midwest and New England might make it difficult for people in those regions to find the perfect Halloween pumpkin.
The market value of the 2008 pumpkin crop from the six top-producing stated that it was $140.7 million, with 43,400 acres harvested, the Department of Agriculture says.
One vendor who sells pumpkins to a small wholesalers, expects prices to hit 55 cents a pound this fall, up from 39-49 cents last year. Also costs are up 30-40% because of high fuel and fertilizer prices.

Its that time of year. If you are a resident of Arrowhead Lake Flu Shots will be given out.
Arrowhead has arranged for a Flu Shot Clinic on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 from1:00 - 3:00pm. It's free for anyone with Medicare Part B and $30.00 foranyone else.The shots will be for regular Flu.
There is not yet a vaccine for Swine Flu.

The Pocono Record indicated that the Pocono's this year got hit with two things during the summer tourist season.
Recession #1, and the weather #2.
One major factor can be overcome but two makes it very difficult.
That's what has been happening since Memorial Day.
They say local resorts and attractions have been dealing with the worst economic times in decades.
The National Weather Service measured precipitation at Mount Pocono almost 7 inches above the norm, almost 20 inches of rain.

The Lake Naomi Club, through its members, supporters and donors, has affiliated with a local hospital to provide free screenings and aftercare, if necessary, to uninsured or underinsured women in our area.
The money, raised by the Lake Naomi/Breast Cancer Committee, stays here to help women locally. This year, the money was raised through golf and tennis tournaments and in 2008 with a golf tournament at Lake Naomi. This year more than $35,000 was raised; in 2008, $27,000 was raised.
An extensive silent auction with gifts is donated by local businesses.
