Playing a REAL real estate game on Christmas Day - 12/31/11 11:31 PM
Sunday, December 25.  Christmas day at our house:  After church, gifts, and food it was time to get seriously down to the game of real estate:  In this case the real estate game was a multi-hour experience with my daughter-in-law's brand new Monopoly game.
It wasn't just any old ordinary Monopoly game....it was a special Monopoly game for lovers of Yorkshire Terriers - Yorkies.
As a breeder (formosayorkies.com) of those wonderful little dogs, she surely qualifies as a lover of them.
I joined in ONLY (mind you) to see what this game could teach me about real estate in 2012. :-)

Friday, December 23.  Returned from Grandma's house ....you, know:  Over (Snake) River (several times) and through the woods (in Oregon's Blue and Cascade Mountains - there are no woods on I-84 in Idaho) from Grandmother's house we go.
Along the way, while not driving, I reviewed the real estate mags I had picked up along the 2000 mile way during our Christmas trip.  I saw a couple ways to tie such print advertising to websites.

WHY and HOW would anyone stop doing short sales in today's market? - 12/27/11 01:55 PM
Among today's featured posts on ActiveRAIN was one by an attorney who used it to announce that his firm would no longer do short sale closings...apparently in an attorney closings state.  His post garnered, at last count 228 comments - most of them agreeing with his decision.  However, I must respectively disagree....with one important BUT at the end.     I can understand an attorney located anywhere withdrawing from the short sale market. But for escrow/title companies in states like mine where they do all closings, foregoing short sales would not be an option....even with them only constituting 15-20% of the market.For most … (12 comments)

I have strong opinions, but I rarely make a rant into a post.  This is a rant.  Let me get it off my chest while I am still shivering:
BANKS ARE COMPLETELY NUTS!
One of the many ways they are completely nuts (definition:  intent on acting irrationally) is in refusing to keep the electricity on in the Bank-Owned properties they have listed for sale in regions like mine.
Outside the sunny south, they endure the cost of weatherizing these vacant homes, turning off water service, taping notices to sinks and toilets, cluttering up the appearance of the home with notice after … (15 comments)
