Tips For The Front Door and First Impressions - 10/29/11 08:16 PM
I think front doors are one of the most important parts of curb appeal! It sets a buyer's expectations of what the inside of the home will be lilke, including what condition the home is probably in. Belinda Spillman has some great tips for front doors and first impressions . . . I am always intrigued by feng shui and the feelings that a home can emit due to good or bad feng shui practices.

Active Listings in Villages of Northpointe (Always Up-to-date)
2011 has been a pretty active year for home sales in Villages of Northpointe and Villages of Northpointe West. Homes are selling in a relatively short period of time, especially compared to other parts of the country. Homes that are staged or in the best showing condition typically sell quicker and sometimes for more money than those that do not show as well.

If you've been sitting on the fence trying to decide if you should rent awhile longer or go ahead and purchase a home while prices and interest rates are low, I think it helps to look at it as, "You have to live somewhere and either pay rent to your landlord or pay the mortgage which goes toward owning your own property."
I tell my clients, "With interest rates and home prices being what they are today, you almost can't afford NOT to buy. (0 comments)
If I sell now and move up,I can't get as much as I want for the home I will be selling!
Most sellers who are in this position, are okay with the fact they may not get as much as they would like for the home they are selling, once they do the numbers and realize that neither will the seller of they home they will be purchasing.
It also helps knowing that interest rates are at near-historic lows and you can purchase more home for the money right now -- helps offset that "loss" a bit (4 comments)
Don't believe everything you hear on the news! The news is largely national. Real estate is local!
The media can sometimes take a tidbit of information and turn it into a "chicken little" story -- it sells to the public!
I will say, however, that in Houston, they seem to have "gotten it." Our local market is actually quite healthy. It's not an extreme buyer's market, nor is it an extreme seller's market. In general, it's just a good time to buy! Our local media doesn't (5 comments)
Now May be a Good Time to Buy a Home if You've Had It with Apartment Living!
A few advantages of owning your own home over renting an apartment:
You know where you are going to park when you come home late at night - either in your own driveway or inside your garage. You don't have to pay extra for that guaranteed, reserved parking spot -- nor do you have to worry that someone else parked there even though you are paying extra for that reserved spot! Your friends and family can park in your driveway (4 comments)
Is Now the Time to Buy a Home in the Houston Area or Should You Wait?
You be the judge . . . . .
Interest rates are at near historic lows, which means you can afford more house now than you can if and when interest rates go back up (and it's almost a certainty that they will; and that can happen almost overnight).
Various reports indicate that Houston rental rates are increasing, so you will most likely be paying more for rental properties in the near future. Your current rent may very well increase when (4 comments)
Old Town Spring is open year-round, closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. It offers lots of fun and interesting things for the whole family, including shopping at over 200 shops, listening to barber shop quartets, live entertainment at some of the shops as well as strolling musicians.
You can tour the museum, ride the train and enjoy horse and carriage rides. During the Christmas holidays, of course, Santa is on hand at Santa Village for photos. (6 comments)
