Longwood Gardens offers spectacular fireworks and fountains shows guaranteed to make your summer memorable. Enjoy an evening of American music classics with Summer Pops featuring the music of Leroy Anderson. Fountains and fireworks dance to Anderson’s most loved works, including Blue Tango, The Syncopated Clock, Promenade, Sleigh Ride and our fantastic finale, Home Stretch.Guests may reserve a space in the Gardens after 3:00 pm. For the best viewing experience, guests are encouraged to bring a lightweight folding chair or rental chairs can be purchased for $5 each while supplies last. Are you a cake or an ice cream person? Ice cream is my thing but on my birthday (the best ever, thank you all for your well wishes) I had my cake and my ice cream too! WOW Brusters' Birthday Cake Ice Cream has made it to the top of my list - beating out everything chocolate, if you can imagine that? Our local Brusters on Baltimore Pike/Route 1 is running a special with world-renowned Longwood Gardens, and they always have fun promotions going on their road signs. check them out if you haven't jroosevelt@kw.com
Longwood Gardens - where winter wonderlands exists Through January 9, 2011 Imagine half a million brilliant lights strung with over 39 miles of cord. Lit trees the soar 75 feet, and dancing fountains that reach the sky. A 4.5-acre heated indoor Conservatory, featuring a giant Art Nouveau tapestry made from pink poinsettias and ferns, and the richest floral displays imaginable. A Longwood Christmas is a celebration months in the making-with hundreds of amaryllis, cyclamen, narcissus and literally thousands of poinsettias. And if all our must-sees aren't enough, we've got plenty of must-hears, too-with special performances throughout the holidays.

If you are new to the area this is definitely worth a visit, especially at dusk. There are exhibitis inside and out- and nothing is better than a cup of cocoa in the Restaurant. Among the horticultural delights is a collection of bonsai - ask when you go to visit and it is worth it this time of year, especially at dusk when the outside lights start to come on. Explaining to buyers moving to the Chadds Ford area, renowned for its superior school system, that it is more a state of mind than a geographic location is a challenge that I cherish. Chadds Ford is a small historic crossroads memorialized by popular Hank's Diner, which if you are lucky you will enjoy some of the best moussaka ever, and it also is a township in Delaware Count 40 minutes outside Philadelphia. But, Chester County, right next door, also shares in thebounty of art, history and natural beauty. Perhaps it's better offer a regional definition extending into northern Delaware - the BRANDYWINE (0 comments)

One of the extraordinary things that makes living in the Brandywine Valley area (encompassing southeastern PA and northern DE) so wonderful, is world-class Longwood Gardens, epseically in the holiday season with its outdoor light shows, and fountain displays. And new the last few years, ice skating exhibitions.
