It's been one of the best polo seasons ever in Aiken -  I've been to some very exciting matches, and one of THE BEST I've been to yet.   It was the Smoak Family Tournament - finals match on Whitney Field, Aiken.   It was a great match, lots of great plays - both defensively and offensively, no injuries, not many penalties....  tied at the final chukker it went into sudden death overtime!
Polo has a long history here in Aiken.    Whitney Field is over 130 years old, and an Aiken historic landmark.

Yesss!!!  It's just about here.  I was walking in Hopelands Gardens a few weeks ago with my great niece and we could see the transformation beginning! Over 100,000 lights will be strung throughout the gardens.  If you have never been - you have to go at least once..... driving by and looking just isn't the same as strolling down the garden paths, seeing the strings of lights twinkling, the old oak trees, hearing the music, sipping hot apple cider at the Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame & Museum....
