State Lawmakers Agree on 90-day Foreclosure Bill - 05/26/09 02:18 PM

Hot off the press! Michigan lawmakers struck a deal last week to give homeowners facing foreclosure a 90-day window to stay in their house and potentially work out a deal with their lender.
The legislation lets homeowners delay foreclosure proceedings if, after getting a notice of foreclosure, they meet with a housing counselor and the bank. Only homeowners meeting certain financial standards could qualify for loan modification.
There is a list of housing counselors prepared by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority will have to be included in the foreclosure letter for the homeowner to be eligible.

Dexter Library is a captivating oasis to curl up with a book or research material on computers. The Dexter Library schedule  is updated monthly. We were there there for the May 2nd used book sale. We were there at the fire that burned down the old structures before construction started (pictured below). Many people deserve thanks for this wonderful jewel. CAP and TRADE - A Call to Arms - 05/19/09 07:57 PM
I tend to stay away from political issues and political debate; however, debate started today in the House of Representatives on the Waxman-Markey bill, better known as "cap and trade".
Disguised as a bill to clean up green house gases, this bill does very little to affect global warming or any other environmental issue. What it really does is impose a massive energy tax on all the working men and women in the United States. This bill has been estimated to increase our energy costs by $3000-$4000 per year. So much for our $13 per week tax savings.

Here in Ann Arbor, Michigan, it is that time of year again. Budget time.
Roger Fraser, City Administrator for Ann Arbor, presents a proposed budget in May, consisting of a two year plan to the City Council to adopt by the third Monday in May 2009.  There is a tax revenue decline from Ann Arbor Real Estate property taxes so there is a negative effect on the budget.  The proposed budget would likely reduce staffing would likely be reduced - including some police and civilian roles.

The Real Estate Market statistics for March 2009 are in! The news is great.
For Real Estate in Ann Arbor in Michigan through to Los Angeles California pending home sales are up!
The National Association of Realtors Pending Home Sales Index increased 3.2% to 84.6 from a level of 82.0 in February, and is 1.1% higher than March 2008 when it was 83.7. This is the second consecutive month with an increase.

Financing options for site condos are limited thanks to quirks in state and federal law that are preventing the use of Federal Housing Administration funding in unfinished housing developments that were subdivided as “site condos,” lenders, Realtors and builders say.

Site condos are single-family housing developments subdivided under the Michigan Condominium Act of 1978, allowing for a quicker division of land than the older Michigan Plat Act. The new face of the Ann Arbor News will publish the first biweekly print edition of sister AnnArbor.com on July 26th.  The last episode of The Ann Arbor News has yet to be determined. It  will however be sometime before the end of July and will likely be a special commemorative edition of the 174 year old local icon.
AnnArbor.com will be publishing on Thursdays and Saturdays along with a weekly advertising supplement.  The website will be constantly updated by local staff and bloggers.  Select blogs may launch on the website before the July 26th introduction of the weeklies.
