This may be the house you have been waiting for. Just listed, but not by me, 1030 Fleming Street t was built circa 1906. It looks a bit rough on the outside. I had a chance to see the inside a couple of years ago and was surprised at how good the inside appeared at that time. The above photos were taken at that time. This is another one of those just listed but not by me posts. 1410 Duncan Street is located just across the street form the Tennessee Williams House located at 1431 Duncan Street. Tennessee Williams said this of Key West: "This is the most fantastic place that I have been yet in America. It is even more colorful than Frisco, New Orleans or Santa Fe. The first day I arrived in Key West some 25 years ago was amazed by all of the neat old houses in Old Town. I only ventured to Casa Marina for a party that first trip. And other than driving past New Town, I don't think I really ventured out there until a trip in 1987. New Town did not amaze me. Back in 1984 many of the houses that look so damned wonderful today looked like a lot of the still "undone" or "non-restored" houses that still exist all over Old Town. I have written about the landmark home at 730 Southard Street on several occasions and I have actually received both phone calls and emails from potential buyers that were genuinely interested in the property. A few years back when the cost of single family residential housing in Old Town Key West got to be nearly prohibitive for all but the super rich, several larger old properties and some former apartments were converted into condominiums. As the market heated up even those units started to get quite expensive. Such was the case of the four unit complex at 1318 Duncan Street. I sometimes think we fail to appreciate how we get to certain points in our life and how the actions of people around us can make our lives richer or worse for wear. Just listed, but not by me, 3 Aster Terrace in Key West's bedroom community of Key Haven. This is the area where many of the local Key West business owners and professionals live.
