kim fendrick: Handmade Mom Necklace - 06/01/09 02:14 PM
I am a mother of 2 boys. They are great children and I am blessed to have 2 very energetic boys. I have been wanting a new necklace. Today, I received my new handmade sterling silver mom tag necklace. It is exactly what I wanted. I LOVE IT! I got it from Tiny Tag Designs. It is handmade by a stay at home mom, Melissa. Her story is truly an inspiration. Melissa started her jewelry making as a hobby after her 2nd child was born. And from making and giving jewelry to family and friends, she has grown her business to … (2 comments)

I wanted to say thank you to Chuck and Cheryl Wilhelm of Re / MAX Real Estate Group.  We have been working on a home sale and we recently closed the transaction.  It was a great process and a real treat to work with such professionals.  Chuck and Cheryl anticipated some areas that could be of concern as we were negotiating the contact, we dealt with all the issues right away and made for a stress free process.
Thank you again, Chuck and Cheryl.  I look forward to work with them again in the future.

kim fendrick: Susan Boyle on YouTube - 04/16/09 03:53 PM
Everyone is abuzz with Susan Boyle from England.  Susan is a 47 year old woman, single, with a cat.  She came on the TV show Britain's Got Talent 2009 to perform a song.  She had always dreamed of performing in front of a live audience and sing beautiful music.  This wonderful woman has inspired a nation.  No not nation but nations.
How can Susan Boyle inspire?  Susan has inspired companies, individuals, and industries.  She has inspired me as a mom and as a Realtor.
What has Susan reminded me of?  You can never be too old, looks can be deceiving, never … (4 comments)

kim fendrick: Omaha should be honored to have been chosen - 04/05/09 01:18 PM
Omaha should be honored to have been chosen
Congratulations Omaha, NE!  Omaha is a lucky community to have been chosen as a location to premiere a new movie.  The movie is April Showers.  April Showers is a film about the of a survivor of the Columbine High School tragedy, retelling what it was like to have survived the Nation's largest school shooting.  The film is based on actual events.
There is a web site to visit to ask questions, get more information, tell your story, become a part of the movement to stop school violence and help create solutions to … (0 comments)

kim fendrick: Buyers, buyers where are they coming from? - 04/04/09 04:53 PM

There are a number of buyers out there in the market.  I am definitely not complaining but where are they coming from?  I am trying to understand more about the market.
Are the buyers hitting a certain demographics?  Are they all looking at the same price range of homes?  Could they be coming from the $8,000 stimulus package?  I have experienced a range of clients, wide range of prices, and locations.
I have been trying to do as much research as I can.  I spoke with the relocation department at a Real Estate company in the metro and they could … (1 comments)

kim fendrick: Scouting For FOOD - 03/30/09 04:55 AM
It is that time of year when boy scouts and cub scouts do a community project to help local food banks.  You should have received a door hanger this weekend to let you know of the event.
Local scouts will be picking up bags of non perishable food Saturday, April 4th.  Please place the bags out before 8 a.m.
The boys really enjoy this activity and get to collect a lot of food to support the food bank.  If you did not receive a door hanger, please go to Scouting for Food to ask for a food pick up.  You can also find … (1 comments)

kim fendrick: Are you a giving person? - 03/29/09 03:20 PM
Are you a giving person?  Are you a giving agent?  I refer to giving in this statement as an adverb.   Not giving as a verb.  An adverb describes something and I am asking if your clients would describe you as a giving agent.  I give, as a verb, in a number of ways to my clients.  I give my time, my knowledge, my worksheets, and other things.   I also am a giving Real Estate Agent, as an adverb.  How?  I am a giving agent by being patience, forgiving, keeping my promises, smiling, laugh with them, apologize to them if I have … (7 comments)

kim fendrick: A Baseball Weekend - 03/27/09 03:46 PM
It is a big weekend in the Metro for young baseball players.  Saturday March 27, 2009 is the KWAA field cleanup day.  It is slated to help prep our fields for the upcoming spring season.  It looks to be a cold day in the Omaha Metro.   We will need heavy coats.
Then Sunday, March 28, 2009 at 2 p.m. is the rally for the 2009 Spring Youth Baseball program.  The rally is going to be held at Kiewit Middle School off 156th and Dodge.
We are excited for the season to start.
Go Royals!

kim fendrick: David finally did it! - 03/27/09 03:33 PM
David Letterman tied the knot after, what, what...that's a long long time.
How long?  It was 23 YEARS.  David Letterman really did get married to his long time partner of 23 years in a civil ceremony.  The ceremony was held in Montana on March 19th.
When I heard David Letterman got married, I was shocked and did not believe it for a second.
I am a huge David Letterman fan.  I last went to a taping of his show in 2000.  I loved the show.  We were fortunate enough to do "know you cuts of meats" on a Thursday taping of the show.
Congratulations, … (1 comments)

kim fendrick: A Community Treasure....Under the Sink - 03/16/09 03:13 PM
What is under your sink?  In your garage?  In the basement?  What if you are moving and the movers will not take your household chemicals?    Old paint, pesticides, rechargeable batteries, fluorescent bulbs, insect repellent, motor oil, glues, gas, caulk, aerosol cans, spray paint are all recyclables.  If you have old or unused hazardous items such as these where can you dump them?  Under the Sink!
Under the Sink, a facility in Omaha NE, recycles hazards that cannot/should not be put in landfills.  Where better than to take all your old paints and paint cans.  Do you know what they do with … (0 comments)

kim fendrick: Daylight Savings Time - 03/08/09 06:48 PM

Where did this come about?  Why do have to set our time back and forth?  I totally can live with the time schedules of Daylight Savings.  Who can't?  Long days with sunshine and more light.  My house welcomes late nights outside with open arms.  I think it would even help in the winter months.  And it will take me at least a week to adjust to the new time schedule.
Daylight savings time started in 1918 and last for 1 year as a wartime measure.  The nation did this to decrease fuel use in households and redirect it to the … (2 comments)

kim fendrick: Septic Systems: Part 2 - 03/08/09 05:34 PM
One important part to any good working machine is how well we take of it.  That will determine how long and how well it works for us.  Septic systems are no different.   These systems are not care free.
Tanks need to be pumped out every 2 to 5 years.  The time line is based on the size of the tank and usage of it.  The tank needs to be pumped when the sludge reaches 1/3 of the tank depth.
Household waste and chemicals may cause damage to the system.  Avoid fat or grease going into the system as well as harsh … (2 comments)

kim fendrick: Septic Systems Basics - 03/08/09 05:11 PM
Septic Systems are not common in the Omaha metro area but they are out there.  To be a good Realtor, you should know the basis of Septic Systems.  There is information that is basic and can help guide your client in making a good real estate decision that works best for them.
Septic Systems are an onsite system to dispose of biological sanitary waste from the home.  "Black water" and "gray water" enter the septic system.  Black water is human waste, grey water is waste from domestic processes like dish washing, laundry.
The system holds these wastes in an acceptable container.  … (2 comments)

kim fendrick: Skyfari - Coming to the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo - 03/01/09 07:05 AM
Guess what is coming to the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo?  Skyfari, an aerial safari is going to be opening this spring.  This ride will be an open air chairlift taking you across the zoo.  The Skyfari will start at the front of the zoo by the insect and butterfly area and take you all way to the back by rhinos and elephants.
We are looking forward to the new addition.  The zoo offers so many places to explore.  And I have to admit, the elephants and rhinos have not been given much attention from my family. We always start at the … (1 comments)

kim fendrick: Annual Migration - 03/01/09 06:17 AM
Happy 1st day of March.  With March here, it brings migration and that means sandhill cranes in Nebraska.  The annual migration of sandhill cranes goes through central Nebraska.  You can see the sandhill cranes from the Platte River.  The cranes eat left over corn, wheat, any grains they find left in the fields.  They need lots of energy and nutrition to make the long trek north bound.
If you have never seen hundreds, thousands (actually it is up to half a million) birds in one place like that it is truly beautiful.  I still remember going when I was a child.  The time to see the cranes will only … (1 comments)

kim fendrick: Omaha Boat Sports and Travel Show - 02/28/09 03:54 PM
This week Omaha hosted the annual Omaha Boat Sports and Travel Show.  The show is being held at the Qwest Center.  I had the opportunity to go.  This is an awesome show.  There were representative from all the local camper / travel trailer dealers in the metro area.  And boy did they bring the travel trailers.  There were so many.  Its amazing you really can have a home on wheels, plus you can take a tax credit if it is a second home.
There were also a number of travel resorts and community educators form Alaska to Texas.  We have a … (1 comments)

kim fendrick: Thank you and farewell, Paul Harvey - 02/28/09 03:27 PM
I am a huge talk radio fan.  Since I was little at my grandparents home, I have listened to talk radio and Paul Harvey was a big part of that radio time.  My favorite was news and comment, found at 12 p.m. local time.  I knew the time was coming when we would not be blessed with his voice as he was not as regular as we would have liked.
My thoughts and sympathies go out to the friends and family of Paul Harvey as well to all of those that will miss him on the air waves.
It was a pleasure to … (1 comments)
