Moore County is centrally located in the Sandhills Region of NC.   A short trip will take you to some of the best beaches on the east coast, or some of the most spectacular views of the Appalachian Mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway.  There are endless things to do here at home, as well.  Our historical towns of Southern Pines, Cameron, Carthage, Aberdeen, Vass, Robbins, and Villages of Whispering Pines and Pinehurst offer locally owned shops that sell everything from Antiques to zippers!  And with 43 golf courses and growing, it is always "tee time."

Small town living and local flair attracts people from all over the country to Moore County.  Larger metropolitan areas such as Raleigh, Fayetteville, Greensboro, and Charoltte are all with reasonable driving distance to meet all of your needs.  Ft. Bragg Army Base is just around the corner, and numerous military families are proud to call Moore County home.  If you are a horse person, the area is home to over 400 horse farms that stretch from one end of the county to the other.  The NC State Equine Health Center is located on 80 acres just outside of Southern Pines, and is a satellite campus of the NC State University's  College of Veterinary Medicine.  The Equine Center also borders The Walthour-Moss Foundation, which consists of over 3,000 acres including horse trails, hunting trails, and also borders some of the most beautiful horse farms in the county.

Education is key in Moore County.  Public, private, church sponsored, and charter schools are available for pre-kindergarten through grade 12, and Sandhills Community College for continuing on after high school.  There are many great parks, athletics programs, summer camp programs, martial arts studios, and  top-notch parks and recreation departments on both the county and civic levels.

There is also plenty to do for the active senior.  We have a wonderful Senior Center with planned activities and social events.  There are also many senior-only communities, as well as retirement and assisted living communities.

With all that Moore County has to offer, one could do something different every day of the year.  Whether your age is 2 or 102, there is an activity just waiting for you.  Why would you want to live anywhere else?
