Brookland School District to Start Football Team - 10/21/07 04:13 PM
Jonesboro is surrounded by many school districts, and now another one is adding FOOTBALL to its sports opportunites. And a football team means a band and cheerleaders. And more competition for Northeast Arkansas!!! Starting with the 2008-2009 school year, Brookland will begin phasing in a football team, much the way that the Valley View District phased in their team. Brookland Schools are growing as Brookland is centrally located between Joneboro and Paragould, making it an ideal place to live. Many homes located in Jonesboro are actually in the Brookland District. And southerners do love football, so we're all excited about having

Ten Years of Making Miracles Happen - 10/21/07 04:04 PM
In Jonesboro, October 27 at the Northeast Arkansas District Fairgrounds, a special event will take place. Sherry Carter startd an event in Craighead County ten years ago that enabled individuals with special needs to have a day just for them where they could be recognized. The Craighead County Sheriff's Mounted Patrol agreed to sponsor a rodeo for these developmentally disabled individuals, called the Miracle Rodeo. This year about 170 people will participate. They dress up like real cowboys and cowgirls and ride horses as well as other activities like face painting, horseshoes, stick barrell racing, and swingset bronco riding. In past

A Day in Tornado Alley - 10/17/07 04:59 PM
Another pretty useless day for a Realtor in Jonesboro, Arkansas. When CNN, the Weather Channel, and the Today Show have a big red blob over the state of Arkansas in the morning, you can bet that clients will cancel looking at houses. That's part of living in tornado alley, with a history of tornadoes. Those of us old enough to remember the "tornado of 68" and the "tornado of 73" and the many close calls since tend to get a bit nervous when seeing those red blobs on the weather map. I don't get scared anymore but I do keep the

ASU Victorious - 10/13/07 10:39 PM
Arkansas State University in Jonesboro had its homecoming game tonight against Louisiana-Monroe and had a great crowd of around 18,000 fans! The Indians won easily. They've got a good team this year and even stood up well to Texas and Tennessee. I was so proud of them. Oh, and by the way, this is their last year to be the "INDIANS" as the name is offensive. There is great debate in town over what they will ultimately become. Some swear they will never be anything but the Indians, but I like to be politically correct, so I'm for changing the name.

Blogging again - 10/12/07 11:53 PM
My parents and I as members of The Marcom Team started the first real estate blog in Jonesboro on our website at www.jonesboroarkansashomes.com. Now I'm finding out I need to be blogging here also. We just attended the RE/MAX Mid-States Convention in Branson where I learned about ActiveRain and was bombarded with yet more technology. Jonesboro is a great town in northeast Arkansas with a population closing in on 60,000. We're a college town, a mostly "dry" county (which means you have to be a member of a club to buy liquor), and we have a bank and a church on
