blue grass real estate: How do you know when does your Fence need a Makeover? - 04/05/09 10:21 AM
How do you know when does your Fence need a Makeover?

1.  The fence is so old that when powerwashed to color is still old.
2.  When it is made solid enough to lean but not fall down.
3.  When every invertebrate calls it home.
4.  Also when it makes the house and garage look like garbage.
5.  The wood is warbed enough to make a boat.

blue grass real estate: Building a Privacy Fence in Blue Grass Iowa. - 04/05/09 09:54 AM

Building a Privacy Fence in Blue Grass Iowa.
I started early Saturday morning the 4th of April 2009.  I was lucky to be able to use the old fences 4 by 4's.  I connected the 2 by 4's in with 3" wood screws.  I also used 6' Dog Earred style wood pieces.  The Dog Earred pieces were installed with 1.5 inch wood screws.  All pieces were installed as level as possible.  We do our best to make Blue Grass, Iowa Properties a little better with each improvement.

blue grass real estate: A little bit of Landscape goes a long way in Blue Grass, IA and Everywhere. - 07/20/08 09:46 AM
A little bit of Landscape goes a long way in Blue Grass, IA and Everywhere.
When Staging a home its great to do the inside but what about the landscape?
Make a list about what are the things that make people want to buy the property.
1.  Mow the grass
2.  Do the weed wacking.
3.  Put in decorative rock.
4.  Level the lot and fill in the holes.
5.  Fertilizer, grass sead, and fresh flowers.
6.  Scrape & paint house.
7.  Power wash the Fench and Deck then Stain.
8.  Prune all the bushes and trees.
These are just a few … (2 comments)

blue grass real estate: How important is it in picking your website name? - 07/20/08 06:11 AM
How important is it in picking your website name?
I have a website and used my name instead of a particular area that I service.
www.FowlerRealtyHomes.com
I did not do my homework and found out that there is a town called Fowler.  Now my 1 year old website has to compete with real estate websites that service the City of Fowler Area.  Some of them such as Home Gain are very powerful SEO giants.
I have also noticed that other newly formed websites out competing mine.
Some of them have the service area right in their website names.  And I am sure … (0 comments)

blue grass real estate: Do you need an Expert to Find out what type of Paint to Use? - 07/19/08 02:17 PM
Do you need an Expert to Find out what type of Paint to Use?
The answer in most cases is yes.
First off are you painting inside or outside?  Exterior or Interior.
How is the weather in the area where you live?  Paint that is resistant to extreme hot or cold.
What type of color are you using?  This will decide what type of base you will need to mix.
And for interior walls how shiny do you want your walls?  Flat, Semi-Gloss, Satin, and Gloss.
And try to be consistant.
Good Luck!!!

blue grass real estate: How Significant is it to Look Professional all the Time? - 07/18/08 07:29 PM
How Significant is it to Look Professional all the Time?
We live in a small community where everyone pretty much knows each other.  There is no way that I can be in Realtor gear all of the time.  How can you generalize your wardrobe and still be comfortable?  I changed to a quality company tee-shirt to be a walking company ad.
Is this out of line?

blue grass real estate: The Market is Finally Moving in the Right Direction for Blue Grass IA Real Estate. - 07/18/08 06:47 PM
We are small independent brokers in the West Quad Cities Iowa Area.  The market for the first two quarters of 2008 have been very slow.  The few so-called buyers that we had could not get approved for what they need in a home.  The buyers would not settle and the sellers would not come down in price until now.  We have six contracts this month and are looking at a few more to seal the deal.  Thank God for FHA.  Not Successful but out of the Red.

blue grass real estate: Outdoor Grilling Coal or Propane? - 07/18/08 06:25 PM

Propane is the best way to go when outdoor grilling.  Coal is dirty and hard to regulate.  Coal also leaves a mess while and after cooking.  Propane gas is easy to regulate as long as the regulators are connected to the tanks and working properly.  Don't forget to strap the tanks in tight for no accidents.  Have fun grilling.  What say you?

blue grass real estate: Combo Keyboxes Vs Electronic Keyboxes. - 07/18/08 05:50 PM
They both have their advantages and faults.
Advantages Electronic lockboxes :
1.  Hard to Steal.
2.  knowledge of what Realtors have keyed in.
3.  Easy to disable.
Faults Electronic Lockboxes:
1.  When you live in btwn two Association one group of Realtors will not have the ability to key in.
2.  Have to drive to the association to use or buy them.
3.  They are expensive.
Advantages Combo Boxes:
1.  They are cheap.
2.  Anyone can use them with the right code.
3.  Kept at the office.
Faults Combo Boxes:
1.  After you give out the code you lose control over who has been inside and … (7 comments)

blue grass real estate: Save Money Through Farming!!! - 07/12/08 06:43 AM
Save Money Through Farming!!!
Who wants to sell?  Who is content in where they live?  Who is losing their home?  Who needs to relocate?  Who is a tenant?  Who is an owner occupant?
Know your neighborhood by investigation.  Have a title company pull up a 3 to 6 line farm list.  Most of the time the lists are FREE.  They make it easy for you to distinguish from the people who are most likely to sell their homes sooner rather than later.  They tell you how long a person has owned the property, how much they bought it for, and if there … (13 comments)

blue grass real estate: Why do most jars say refrigerate after opening? Carefull No Double Dipping!!! - 07/12/08 05:03 AM
Why do most jars say refrigerate after opening?
I believe that the contents of a jar are normally either lower than the PH level 5 or higher than the PH level 9.  Almost all bacteria grows within a PH range of 5 to 9 on a scale of 1 being Hydroclouric Acid to 14 which is the same as Bleach.
So why do we have to refrigerate the jars after opening?
For example a jar of Mayonaise is being used to be put on a Tunafish Sandwich.  First you open the jar and put the spoon in and take out some Mayo so you can mix it with your Tunafish.  … (9 comments)

blue grass real estate: What are the best ways to stop water from entering a basement? - 07/12/08 04:32 AM
What are basements anyway?  I believe that they are free floating in ground structures mostly made out of somekind of concrete.
I have noticed that most of the time there is a problem it is with a blocked foundation.
Either the blocks were not put in property or sealed.
Sometimes the weight of the home or the pressure from the ground outside the basement makes the walls bow.
When the builder does not put sometype of pee gravel under the concrete of the basement floor the water will not flow properly inturn increasing the pressure around the house until it finds a weak area to … (6 comments)
